I don’t understand how this is possible. How could it be larger than SNES to N64 or PS1 to PS2? Or if they mean exclusively for xbox generations how could it be bigger than OG Xbox to 360?

  2. darkness1418

Next year will be xbox year yes we have been saying that since forever

  3. They said the same thing about the ps5 and the new Xbox and 10 year old ps4 games still look better or even on par with 2024 games. This „largest technical leap“ statement is just marketing nothing else

  4. We are just getting xsx native games premature for me to shift the talk to the next-gen already

And IF it uses a hybrid dedicated + Azure cloud and thus a permanent high bandwidth internet connection (with the latency and everything behind) It doesn’t really count imho as a leap if some stuff are processed in a datacenter

  5. SuddenConversation21

And ur price of $1000 and we dont have enough of them so good luck trying to find one

  6. iNfANTcOMA

remember when crackdown 3 and forza was going to harness the power of the cloud!!!

  7. Turok7777

If I want power, I’ll just upgrade my PC.

  8. Skcuszeps

It will be super duper powerful. And it will come with a lower powered little brother for half the price. Games have to run on bo…. Err nevermind, that’s this generation

  9. StoneRivet

Every generation of consoles will always be “the largest technical leap” to make headlines and curious consumers. Unless I can deep dive VR, it’s a lie.

  10. Wonderful_Sector8894

    This goes for all systems.

They need to stop with this already working towards the next generation of gaming when the current generation has been barley scratched.

If they come out with new systems in say 4 years and the graphics look exactly the same why should I even waste my money?

Push the current systems to the limits and when there is a noticeable difference in graphics than push the new systems out.

But if the new systems just have higher specs but the games look the same what is the point?

I want to be able to see the difference  between PS5 and PS6. Not oh look it loads faster.

I mean there are very few games that you can even tell the difference between last generation and current generation. Most games still look like last generation, but we are paying current generation prices.

  11. MissingPP

Jumping to PC next and hanging onto the series x as it has good enough power for a console for me.

  12. KaijinSurohm

Don’t they say this every generation?

  13. King_Krong

All that power and no games to go with it.

  14. poshmarkedbudu

I’m all about those tech leaps. Exciting if they are truly going to push the envelope.

  15. LocustUprising

They say this with every console generation so at this point might as well just invest in a PC

  16. ChuggsTheBrewGod

Jesus didn’t the newest Xbox and PS5 just come out? I know that the 360 era ran a little long, but I’d prefer that to the breakneck speed they seem to be going.

  17. All that power just to run games at 30fps in 4K mode.

  18. UniqueForce126

whats the point if games now don’t even push the current hardware

  19. I just don’t know if I trust Xbox anymore to produce good games. I’ll most likely abandon ship and go ps6.

  20. DuckCleaning

Can we just focus on one thread on the announcement and not make new threads for each sentence spoken. We did the same yesterday with Sony.

  21. CamNM1991

Another no game generation would be a more accurate claim.

  22. Sota4077

The fact that IGN turned a single sentence into a news article tells you pretty much all you need to know about IGN and gaming journalism. Yes there will be another console and it will be a generational leap. Absolutely no one should be surprised by this statement…

  23. -lukeworldwalker-

It’ll follow the logical Microsoft naming convention. Therefore I can predict the name:

    Xbox X Series 1 xodX

  24. WhoEvenIsPoggers

Who cares tho? The developers aren’t able to actually make the games run to the console’s supposed ability. Last gen they boasted 120fps for series x. How many games can actually do that?

  25. SenpaiSwanky

First 30 exclusive games locked to 30 FPS, all with option to preorder and play a week early for $100, and all 30 games are generic golfing games

  26. AgtDALLAS

I’m done with consoles until it’s a spore I can snort like that PS9 commercial. Need that straight to the brain simulation.

  27. snipezz93

original xbox does still hold the record for biggest jump in console performance with the introduction of direct x to consoles, wonder if they can do it again

  28. Misragoth

Sure, it will, and then it will be outdated in a month

  29. SarumanTheSack

It can be the biggest leap it wants but if it still only has 3 games in 5 years it’s worthless.

Not buying any new gen consoles right away again.

  30. A-Good-Weather-Man

Call it Xbox 720 and you have a deal.

  31. Brookie069

Absolutely no way I’m buying another new console in the next 5 years. It’s too soon and it’s only been recently that Xbox One/ PS4 has started to be dropped from new releases. Series X in theory is gonna be supported for quite awhile, if not I’m just going back to PC.

  32. Super_flywhiteguy

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Microsoft, you need GAMES dude. Good ones, exclusive ones. Sony is asleep at the wheel with no new ip’s til after 2025. You bought out Bethesda and Activision-blizzard, you got nothing to show for it.

  33. captainjunkdrawer51

Dude, I just bought a series X two months ago! Can we make it to at least seven years before new console hardware is slung at me.

  34. roastytoastywarm

So was this Gen just a wash? I honestly can’t fathom what they did this Gen to make me think they deserve to be talking next Gen already.

  35. Always large technical leaps them devs don’t take full advantage of it

  36. Cynnthetic

SNES to N64 will likely always represent the biggest leap any console generation took.

  37. ChimChimney1977

The PS2 was 155 times more powerful than the PS1. The PS5 is only about 5 times more powerful than the PS4. The technical leap of each generation has been getting smaller for a while now, so I highly doubt we will see “the largest technical leap ever”

However, consoles have gotten so powerful already that even if the next Xbox is only twice as powerful as the current one, it would still be incredibly impressive.

  38. Yukisuna

But will it have any exclusive games to make it worth getting over a PC with an xbox controller and xbox game pass?

Of course it won’t. Just get a PC instead. You’ll have access to both Xbox and PS titles.

  39. Slightly-Blasted

If Xbox really wants to make money, they will put steam OS on Xbox consoles with built in native gamepass.

  40. I thought they were doing away with consoles last week. What happened?
