Wow, took a whole week to say nothing. Just like Xbox total sales.

Why wasn’t this just a tweet? They could have very easily responded to the rumors with this in a single tweet. Phil saying what he said on twitter and announcing this “presentation” made the rumors sound true when he literally could have just said what he said here, which is almost nothing. 😂
FeelingInspection591
Xbox always manages to surprise me with how bad they are at this. They waited and let the rumors swell just to come out and essentially say nothing.
Valentari
This was so lame and such a disappointment.

Soo… i don’t get it. I didn’t really hear an update.

Good update and about what I expected. People were melting down for nothing.

ActiBlizz Games coming to GamePass might be the biggest News here, starting with Diablo 4 in March.
Dragunfli
So they’re bringing games to other platforms to show those gamers essentially what Xbox has…
How did the Ori games, New Super Lucky’s Tale and Cuphead not accomplish this?
I would also imagine people would open their eyes to Xbox’s library simply by keeping up with their announcements and watching livestreams or videos on upcoming/existing games.
Everything they say they’re attempting to grow Xbox, they’ve tried before, and their platform has struggled.
As I expected, nothing but PR fluff today.
Edit: Downvotes, but no rebuttals. Very much expected as well.

Pretty sure people are missing the plot here. That podcast was not to tell us anything. It was a bunch of carefully constructed double-talk aimed at Sony and Nintendo. Like “Hey, we’re not enemies. Moooooney. Moooooneeeeeey.”
Kimosabae
This podcast just let all the air out of the internet.

Phil: The two ways to grow in the video game industry today are to either get more money out of existing players, or to try to bring new players in. At Xbox we’re focused on the second one.
Halo players: Are we a joke to you?
(don’t answer that, it’s rhetorical)
Anubra_Khan
The biggest “news” I got from this was that they are, in fact, working on a next gen console. This is contrary to the fringe rumors that they will be bowing out of the console game like SEGA did.
maxwms
They said “exciting new hardware we will share during the holidays” followed by “new technology” or something like that.
Is that a tease for a pro version of the consoles?

Here’s a TLDR for everyone:
Games:
* Xbox is releasing 4 games on other consoles (Grounded, Sea of thieves, Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush according to TheVerge)
* Choice to release games on other platforms depends on how long they have been out (at least 1 year)
* Indiana Jones and Starfield not coming to Playstation but are not ruled out
* No promises beyond these 4 games.
* 10 major releases coming in 2024.
* More to be shared at the June showcase.
Services:
* Game Pass will only be avaialble on Xbox and not on other consoles.
* Promises not to give up on the Xbox brand and console as hardware
* Activision Blizzard Games are Officially Coming to Game Pass. Starting with Diablo IV on March 28th
Consoles:
* Hardware announcement is coming this holiday season.
* Microsoft is teasing a next-gen Xbox that delivers “the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation.”
* Phil would like that Nintendo and Sony released games on Xbox, but he doesnt think it’s happening
* Teases a handheld device

Phil and his people talk like they don’t know how to be genuine people, they’re constantly putting on their “corporate announcement” voices. The games that are coming to other platforms could’ve been a trailer, and the rest could’ve been a tweet. Instead they set up this elaborate podcast style “interview” with a giant LED screen to seem like we’re getting some *actual news* for Xbox, only for a mere 22 minutes of the same ol’ stuff. Of COURSE you want to sell more games, of COURSE you want to make more hardware! Just make things make sense, Microsoft.

Next Xbox is a PC in disguise

With Phil you have to listen to what he doesn’t say rather than what he says. The fact that he refused to say that starfield and Indiana jones aren’t coming to playstation ever screams that they’re at least thinking about it from the future.
karsh36
They say Xbox games will go to XGP while saying ATVI games are coming to GP, and had absolutely no language to minimize that: New CoD releases may be planned for day 1 GP
darren_meier
*Sea of Thieves* being released for other consoles is the big one for me. *Hi-Fi Rush* is the better game, but expanding the playerbase for *Sea of Thieves* is awesome. I’m curious how large, exactly, this next-gen Xbox experience is going to be– and if they’re going to measure it from the Series S or the Series X.
MrBadTimes
I feel like the entire thing was pointless.

I just want the Crash Bandicoot series on Game Pass. Is that possible? Hopefully.
mozzypaws
Hoping that we will see the new Indiana Jones, Stalker 2, and Starfield on Ps5 some day…

I honestly think the Sea of thieves move has more to do with them seeing an opening for angry black flag fans more than anything else

Was really hoping for some steam deck integration.

Why did i spend $100 on Diablo 4

No more PC Gamepass?
Would love to get an Xbox handheld

I wanted a new Kinect. What a bummer.

Sea of Thieves going Multiplatform is Microsoft just dunking on Ubisoft before Skull and Bones releases.
kingsoho
Playstation outsells Xbox at least 2:1. Other reports have it at closer to 3:1. Based on those numbers, if Microsoft has an exclusive game then they are excluding (let’s take into some consideration crossover) say 60% of the market, minimum. That’s not sound business.
ceebeezie
My question for Sea of Thieves. Will I be able to sign in to my Microsoft account and or transfer my save file?.

“Growth growth growth”. We can make billions, but if we don’t make more the following year, we have to fire people. God I hate capitalism sometimes. At least they were up front with it.

This announcement was absolutely anti-climatic…
surprised they didn’t announce more layoffs 😉
