I’m a fan of JRPGs and also like LOTR alot…. so I was shocked to learn today that LOTR The Third Age existed but I’d never played it 😠Supposedly a FFX clone, which is awesome imo, with solid combat, story and skill system.
if you still have a 6th gen console lying around (I don’t 😓) might be worth checking it out.

Cheers for this. I was digging through my steam library and I found War of the North and confused it for this as I could have sworn it was turn based, where War of the North is definitely not. Must get this for the emulator.
I had a lot of fun with this game. They made a few really great LotR games on PS2. Nowadays we get Gollum…..

LOTR: TTA is a goated game. One of my absolute favorites to play. A remaster/remake needs to happen.
And it was soooo fun!
Loved that this game also had an ‘Evil Mode’ (can’t remember the actual name of it) where you got to play some of the games battles as the bad guys!
Admittedly it was only a handful, but I thought it was really cool.

I played this. One of the stranger modes his game had was allowing you to play as enemy parties against the heroes. I remember such fights as playing as a Ring Wraith and another with the Balrog against Gandalf.
Man, totally recall this gem. Need to dust off my old console for another ride

It was very good. I experienced a game breaking bug, but I eventually came back to an earlier save and completed the game.

This game fucking ruled. You can play it on an emulator. It’s pretty old now, but still very playable.
This was a really nice JRPG-like LOTR game and I really liked how the story moved in parallels with the movie plot.
What I didn’t enjoy, was the lack of chill peaceful moments that I like in any RPG game, it felt that you were going battle after battle after battle.
I would probably give it a replay if I still had my OG xbox

Yeah I spent many many hours on this game, it was great. The animations and voice acting were all really good.
