I wish AMD would make a proper R9 X3D CPU. I do a lot of video encoding and upscaling so I would have loved an Intel CPU due to all the cores at similar price points but the X3D chips just give so much more performance in some specific games that I play.

I’m using my PC for work too, and debated a 14700K vs 7800X3D. 14700K seemed great for Adobe software (including Premiere), but 350W vs 75W is just ridiculous and ended up going with the 7800X3D. (yes I know you can can power limit the i7).
People act like the 7800X3D is only good for gaming, but it’s stil 90% of a fast 7700X in productivity

That’s ridiculous. My red devil 7900xtx with the power limit maxed out in adrenalin pulls 430 on the high end💀
Granted, my 10900k would pull some crazy wattage if my kraken X73 could keep it cool enough. My MSI mobo by default essentially removes power limits if you set it to water cooler and my 10900k used to pull 300+W at max or close to max load when I had it overclocked at a constant 5.1ghz all cores (my first attempt at OC’ing a CPU, so it wasn’t very power efficient). In that context, this is completely unsurprising but still very bizarre.
When I do upgrade my CPU, I’m planning on going with a 7800X3D or 7950X3D. 9000 series CPU’s might be out by then so I guess those will be in the running as well

Just set standard config and power limit to the intel turbo spec.

2013 AMD had to launch 220w TDP chips like the FX 9590 to even stay relevant vs the 84w Intel Haswell, now 10yrs later it’s literally the other way around.
I guess amd just needs to stabilise their am5 with the next gen
