Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years either, typical disgusting gamer slobs

  2. VicePrezHeelsup

Bonus points if they’re running pirated versions of Windows XP

  3. Scarfiotti

Much like my local Chinese restaurant. That one is also still running MS DOS 6.22

  4. ProfessionalCreme119

That’s like finding out your Tesla dealer drives a 1997 Geo Metro.

Why replace perfectly good devices that do the job they need to do ?

As long as it’s just POS and not connected to the outside world, no point in replacing them.

  6. lileathorne

Ahhh just like the registers I use a certain major hardware store that prefers the color blue

  7. Andreionx

Ahhh, the nostalgia I get from looking at those beauties

You know what they say. If it ain’t broke…

POS (and no not a piece of S) can be old, really old. Back in 2014 I ran across a nt 4 system. It was offline, had a printer for reciepts, could print reports and that’s it. Nt 4 was out in 1996. That’s a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng time for some machine to be up and doing its thing but there it was. This was dry cleaning place, and because I was doing tech, I saw screen and went “wtf????”. But it works, and that’s fine!

You should see what micro center uses

  11. mromen10

Respect to these guys, like, it’s just a register, you don’t need a 4090 to run a cash register

  12. Naive_Guitar_6777

  13. LargeMerican

  16. HiYa_Dragon

Bet these machines haven’t been security patched in years.

  17. AmphibianFull6538

Haha. Dude you have no idea the crap running a lot of store registers. These seem more cutting edge vs the norm at large box retailers. Shit still runs on COBOL or Pascal/Delphi.

You should see the shit at large grocery chains.

  18. TenBlueApricots

The printer is on. This is important, so remember this.

Just put the money right In the disc tray

    I’ll tell you a secret you’ll hate:

It’s very well possible that this is **faster and more efficient** than modern systems with a GUI. You just TAB through the thing and hit ENTER. Of course this is also possible on newer systems, but my point still stands.

    Why “fix” it?

  21. Tecno2301

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Switching out that infrastructure would be expensive AF, and obviously is not needed.

  22. TheGoodIdeaFairy22

I love this, though. No reason to upgrade and waste money so long as it works. Plus less consumerism and waste

  23. Artistic-End807

I want to say that this is the pos that I used as a teenager when I worked at Hollywood video. This isn’t game dude by any chance is it?

  24. sparkballer2231

Never doubt DAS based systems I can get through the whole program faster than you can ask me too. My ten key is lightning fast.

That Creative Infra CD Drive 🥰, was the CD Drive I would always dream of putting in my Pentium iii 500mhz, nice to see they are still around.
