Unless it’s a self-modded version, your OS is probably already compromised. Makes little difference if you keep using it past the deadline anyway.

  2. I still don’t get why MS has made this new context menu. It’s pretty much worthless. All the options you care about are either hidden behind the ‘show more options’, or they redesigned it into just being an icon.

All my W11 systems have StartAllBack installed except my recording system. It keeps reminding me vanilla Win11 kinda stinks.

I loved using custom skins in windows 7 man, so sad windows 10 and 11 look too corporate minimalism

I plan to just keep using 10 until it’s support ends, every time I install 11 I just eventually reinstall 10

I mean it’s already compromised so you’re not losing anything

I’ve been using Windows 11 since the beta in July 2020.

    It’s not a big deal.

You know OP doesn’t know much about computers when he makes a meme about not wanting vista to leave.

Don’t worry friends, the Linux community got you covered!

We are working fiercely to make at least all steam games working. Which is already a thing with the help of GloriousEggroll’s Proton. Which is, as far as I know, an interpreter for DirectX into Vulcan.

Lol exactly what happened to me. Same years too. Hopefully “every other release is good” holds true and windows 12 is usable for me.

Edit. Wait is that Vista!? Forget my comment then.

So in 2025 in theory win 12 come a year later

  11. I’m forever win 10, until win 12 comes out.

All of the UI on my windows 10 looks and feels like xp

Except sometimes it searches bing for program files for some reason

  13. And it does in fact keep getting worse.

File explorer down bad in Win11

I will probably switch to Linux when W10 goes EOL

This is why Steam Deck/Proton is the future.

There’s constant complaining about windows on this sub, but nobody seems to know LTSC editions exist? Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC will be supported until 2032, and fixes most of the common complaints in this sub.

It essentially works like windows 7, but more modern. There’s no Microsoft garbage, no store apps (or auto installed apps), generally no bloat installed at all. The Windows search is also ‘fixed’ in the sense that it works like windows 7 search, and doesn’t search the web by default. Smaller install size is also nice. Edge is still installed by default, but it doesn’t really matter. Only security updates are installed, except for the first time you run windows update, so updates are very fast and generally don’t happen at inconvenient times. Generally, it takes less than 30 seconds for an update to complete on a modern pc.

You can find the ISO fairly easily if you google it. It’s an official Microsoft ISO, so the hash can be verified. I would 100% avoid third party ISOs. A Windows 11 LTSC ISO recently got leaked which also looks promising.

I dread the day I gotta move OS’s again. Not like we needed another one anyways realistically. They just wanna force more ads and AI garbo in.

People act like it’s not a big deal, but it really is. Stuff gets outdated more and more, older content becomes harder to keep running. A friend of mine installed it and my god, every other week there’s a new hyper specific W11 problem.

I remember looking forward to W10. But W11 just fills me with dread. All the effort put in to remove the bloatware, the amount of replacement programs for what was very basic shit like SEARCHING??? which I’ve heard got worse on W11.

It’s also shit because despite a 3090, 16gb ram, an m.2 ssd, and whatever recent gen i9, windows still says my PC can’t handle W11. Like, ya’ll, if your OS can’t run on modern, advanced hardware, I ain’t interested even remotely.

That and with the economy in the shitter, god, we’re gonna have a shit load of people having to upgrade their shit, and not being able to afford it.

This can all be seen as inconvenience, but it’s just one stray binary number from being a massive, massive headache.

Hell, don’t get me started on installing Windows 10. I have 8 fucking keys because the POS kept installing the wrong version DESPITE CHOOSING THE RIGHT ONE. If you’re all hooked up and have a good address for shipping, great, for those that don’t, UPS decided delivering the disc to LITERALLY STEPS where a trailer once was, was the right address, not the mailbox to the actual address they had to go to. That was years ago but my god, having to reinstall, multiple times, download various installers, multiple times, try several keys, multiple multiple times, just to say fuck it and pirate it? God no. God no I’m not interested. Yes, I got the free key, it’s a one time install. No code was given and if there was it’s gone after a reinstall. Horrendous experience.

If you’re all set up and nothing goes wrong, and miraculously W11 doesn’t shit the bed, great, but it’s growing more obvious the best route is in fact Linux and Linux ain’t exactly trying to be user friendly. Let alone friendly. Give it time, microsoft will have a fun time in store for you eventually. What should be a simple transition can and will turn into hours or days of unnecessary work for some. I don’t blame the hesitation. Especially when W11 doesn’t really improve anything substantially in any regard.

After I got my Steam Deck, I’m *SERIOUSLY* considering switching to our lord and savior *Linux*, all Valve has to do is make *every single game on the planet* playable on it and I’m switching without a second thought
