I keep seeing comments and posts regarding the aim sway “fix” Sledgehammer games carried out in the latest update that indicate people either never understood what the main problem was to begin with, or understood it but believed this update fixed that problem, when it didnt. I will attempt clarify what was and was not fixed.
The confusion seems to be about aim IDLE sway vs aim MOVEMENT sway(or as Truegamedata calls it- “aiming reticle shift”). Idle sway is the random drift that occurs when u aim down your sights. Aim movement sway is the momentum that either sledgehammer or IW added that causes your sights to move further in the direction you move your sights than you intended, causing an unresponsive floating sensation of your aiming point every time you change aiming direction or physically move your character.
What Sledgehammer actually fixed was INITIAL aim IDLE sway. Previous to this fix when u aimed down your sights, idle sway kicked in so fast that your initial aiming point already drifted to a random point u didnt intend to aim at. They fixed this by briefly delaying the onset of idle sway, so NOW when u ADS your sights will be where u want them. All good right, except this problem was relatively minor, and had the biggest effect when ADSing sniper rifles, which this update did not change.
What Sledgehammer did NOT fix was aim movement sway. This is what makes people miss shots whenever your target changes direction and you move your sights to track, or you physically move your character as in when you strafe. When you do BOTH. Move your sights AND move your character, both types of sway stack on top of each other, making precise and responsive aiming almost impossible. This is what has hurt MnK aiming in WZ3(and according to some people WZ2), and this was absolutely NOT fixed in this update.

I think the confusion right now is the ‘fix’ is bogus because the framerate drop is so prominent, most of the time you can’t even tell a difference when moving around because of how laggy the game feels.
They also removed the hipfire sway, which enables you to get shots on target even before you ads and makes hipfire builds better.
It also enables us to get shots on target faster, which in cod is huge.
Seriously it already is a night and day difference rewarding good crosshair placement and aim.
This was just the first step, they said they are going to do more. I agree the movement sway needs to be fixed.
Yeah I noticed it in the patch notes. This is a great step for sure, but it was definitely the lesser of all the issues introduced. For stationary gunplay, this is perfect. The issue is that 99% of gunfights won’t be stationary and are affected by the strafing reticle shift.
They almost nailed it, and hopefully next patch they address the rest.
