Reality for me:
PC: total spend since in the past 7 years – $3100
PlayStation: Total spend in the past 7 years – $2650 (PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, PS5, PS+ for 7 years, accessories)
Annual cost of ownership has not been hugely different, in my case.
Time spent on PC (approx): 70% gaming, 15% modding, 15% maintaining drivers, updates, etc. Who actually spends a lot of time messing with settings?
Time spent on PS5: Here is the one advantage I’ve realized from consoles: 99% gaming.
PC biggest advantage: highest fidelity/performance
PlayStation biggest advantage: ease of use

Once I built a decent PC I’ve NEVER had struggles with a single game in terms of settings or launcher, well actually just 1, FIFA 23…and that was due to secure boot and EA being absolutely garbage in general

One is a tool you happen to be able to game on, other is only for gaming/entertainment. It’s not even close to fair to compare these two. If you want a tool that can do a lot of things, spend more for a computer. If you want nothing but entertainment get a console. I mean seriously you can make full fledged games, movies, music, and so much more on a computer.

The only issue with pc is that unoptimized games are becoming a daily occurrence. Having a pc and a consol is a win.
