BO3 and Cold war were round based and had things to unlock

I think it’s pretty cringe to post your conversation with someone in another thread to try to get people to dunk on them.

I hate when people simplify round based as just “running around in a circle”
If people actually took the time to look at all the strategies people do for high rounds for various maps then you’ll see it doesn’t just boil down to “run in circles” most of the time.

I’ve been playing zombies since bo2 and honestly I’m burned out already. I played cold war too but honestly round based is indeed extremely repetitive. I haven’t played MWZ but honestly it seems to be going on a better direction.
Round based is only really fun the first times you play a new map, then it boils down to just following the same strategy and run around in circles.

I actually really like the gameplay loop in MWZ and think it is probably the best version of Outbreak/ open world.
This guys wildin though.
BO1 had a super EE for completing all the maps and most games followed suit. Almost every round based map after Kino had a main quest. BO2 introduced weapon quests to actually earn wonder weapons instead of having to hit the box.
BO4 introduced supersprinters on like round 50 and so far the idea of zombies getting progressively more dangerous persists in these newer games.
BO3 introduced rewards you can get in match such as Divinium.
Really don’t see how MWZ is that much more progressive than round based. You’re just doing the same quests then exfilling for most of it so you can do slightly better on the next run.

It just sounds like you both are trying to praise the style you prefer and both of you undercut the style you dont prefer. It just sounds like they were trying to be quick with their response and you were trying to put a little more thought into it. That is all

This new gen will never know underage drinking with the broski’s playing z

I prefer round-based but I do like having big open maps. What sucks about big open maps like MWZ and Outbreak is that there isn’t much to do, it’s a lot of open space but not enough substance. Not to mention these larger maps have less character compared to the round-based maps. I would prefer if Treyarch does a mix of both like in Cold War but I want the roundbased maps to be in interesting settings besides military bases. I found the Cold War round-based maps lacking in terms of map design and hope they improve in the next game.

For MWZ, they need to extend the timer to be longer. I personally would like it if they added a day and night cycle. Make it 2 to 3 days over the course of, say, an hour, and on that 3rd day, gas starts to expand.

While I totally understand what you’re saying I think that mentality in gaming is gone. You are probably the minority in this situation like they are saying. You said it yourself, “it’s boring once you complete everything.” A large population of the player base hasn’t completed everything and are enjoying the progression. Round based would be lost on a majority of them. Zombies has become its own thing and seeing round based as an additional mode vs replacing the existing open world would be the best move in player experience, but I don’t see them splitting the player base like that. I’d rather see the care and atmosphere they had in round based applied to the open world through updates and campaign than them adding a whole new mode.

I ain’t gon lie, I’m a big fan of BO2 zombies but after playing MWZ I wouldn’t be excited if they only give us the round based
XpertFusion3
That sounds like someone who hasn’t played Round-Based Zombies since Black Ops 1.
Black Ops 2/3/4, Infinite Warfare, and even WW2 zombies have a decent amount of things to do on the maps (including the main Easter eggs + side quests).
Running around in circles for high rounds is just one way you can choose to play, but that’s it. There’s many other things to do.

I mean why can’t we just have both? I like the concept of MWZ aside from all the bugs and way too small stash size.
Terrible-Wrangler-31
Round based is the inferior mode.
Coldsavage32
Honestly both are good we need both in the game it’s simple honestly
SpringerTheNerd
I agree but not as much in either way. Round-based is boring and so is Modern Warfare zombies but for different reasons

I grew up with round based but I feel it’s run its course….

Like many, I’ve played since the beginning. During BO1 & BO2 it’s pretty much all my friends and I played, and then BO3 came along and sucked all the fun out of zombies for me. Then Cold War came out, and I got hooked on Outbreak. I know this runs counter to the prevailing thought around here. But that’s just my feelings on it.
My enjoyment of zombies is probably more in line with the casual audience than the hardcore one. I enjoyed just experimenting with weapons and items and shredding zombies until I was overwhelmed. It was more fun for my friends to hold down one area for as long as we could versus trying to get high rounds by constantly training. I really did just get tired of running up and down always. Now I enjoy the freedom and adventure that comes from the large open maps, that still has moments of tight confined gameplay. Each match feels like I have more variety opposed to traditional maps getting old quick to me. Regardless of progression or Easter eggs, It really just comes down to the confines of traditional map vs the mixed gameplay of open maps.
Some of peoples views may also because of changing taste and changing trends in gaming. Just as I was once a traditional map player who now prefers open world zombies, I was once a traditional COD multiplier addict now now prefers Warzone and DMZ. I don’t think traditional zombies is in danger of never existing, but I think the community needs to understand that other experiences will exist as well in order to bring in the larger audience that the mode needs.

I think that round based had a lot more too it but was harder to get into. Open world like cold war and MWZ are way more beginner friendly and easy to hop into but just don’t have much to them after a bit
Operator_Binky
I grew up with round based. but after mwz, i guess we can stick with open world.
Blutz101
Completely agree with you. I just think round base needed more depth to it and round base zombies is my shit. They got complacent with a lot of the core concepts and it got dragged out. There so much room for more in rb somebody’s just got to figure it all out. I do think the open world shit was a step in the right direction for now but I think after a bit they need to give round base another shot with an open mind and not following the traditional flow of cod zombies
Timmay_mmkay
For a company this big, and the amount of time they can put into the games, they should have both. By both I mean full experiences that aren’t half assed like they are now with only one
pellegrinobrigade
I think mwz is honestly a good progression, it just needs tuning, a different map from warzone with zombie elements instead of a random desert and unlimited time would go a long way I think.

I’d quit if it was round based again.
