CP 2077 has now outrun Oblivion in terms of mod downloads. I am very happy with the modding interest because it means the game will be alive for very long.

Impressive but I think downloads is a poorer indication to the mod ‘pulse’ of a game than the amount of mods available.

Oblivion has, from the looks of it 3 times the amount of mods CP77 has and I don’t think that in it’s peak Oblivion was ever as popular or as widely exposed as cp77. Also, I think back than consoles dominated the gaming market and fewer people had gaming pcs that supported modding. all of that is to say, i’m not as optimistic as you.

Say about Bethesda what you will in terms of them hoping modders will fix their broken games, but their mod tooling are significantly better than cp77.

Many TES mods add new companions and questlines and npcs, this isn’t something I’ve seen with CP modding.

Sadly CDPR moving to UE5 might mean that even the existing moding tools will dwindle in the future. I don’t know many UE games that support moding, though it is possible and I don’t think it’s an engine limitation.

  3. With the amount of games out there I don’t usually replay them. But damn, cp2077 is good even on my 4th play through, especially after dlc and all those updates. And second game I replayed was Witcher 3 xD.. Thinking about playing it for the third time

I mean you can’t really have horny mods in Oblivion since every character is an incarnation of Shrek so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison

Oblivion’s modding golden age has come and gone a long time ago. Very few people still play the game, and even fewer still mod it. However, it has some mods that far outclass anything that has ever been built for Cyberpunk. Better Cities and Unique Landscapes come to mind.

The sad reality is the vast majority of 2077 mods are just cosmetic/clothing items and none of it really extends that much life into the game because the modding tools just do not exist for the game. There are no real quest mods, unless you count those poorly put together romance mods that are bug riddled and just repurposes precanned videos of scenes already in game. Very few overhaul mods, especially now post 2.0 as many of the ones that were there are now rendered obsolete or redundant, etc. I think 2077 has a decent modding scene, but let’s be honest, the modding scene of 2077 is also not all that interesting on what one hopes to find and install. Unless real modding tools or less visual artists using 2077 to showcase their Blender projects, it’s always just going to be more of the latter.

Wait until they release the official modding tool, the average quality and quantity of mods will be greatly increased.

The one downside to GeForce now for me. I really need a good PC. Sheesh

  9. Niiiice. Can’t wait to use my tax return to get a gaming pc and play this with mods.

Filter out Panam and Judy mods and try again

Modding is gonna keep being rough for CP2077 as long as RedExt keeps being a bastard. For being CDPR’s official modding tool it does break a lot of stuff really easily. Definitely not user friendly or intuitive. There’s a reason almost every major mod doesn’t use it.

This would be nice, but 70% of the mods are porn

I wish cyberpunk had better mods. Most is just coomer stuff like lingerie and female sexy armor. Bethesdas creation engine is just superior for modding.
