This game has been in development for 8 years. The last time it was seen was a feature in a State of Play years ago. This game was also supposed to be a timed PlayStation exclusive. The developers, Neostream have done nothing to communicate with backers, respond to inquiries, and haven’t made any updates on their Kickstarter.
Also seems to be reports that allegedly most of the original people that were at Neostream are gone. This really needs to be investigated as people spent their hard earned money on this and this developer hasn’t delivered, offered refunds, or even manage to communicate with anyone who has invested in the game.

This is the risk of investment. Stop treating kickstarter like a preorder service and do some proper risk evaluation before putting money into projects. And as always, never invest what you can’t afford to lose.
It sucks that people got burned and the game did look very neat, hopefully it ends up being real.
“…deemed a scam”
There’s your answer. Live and learn.
People on Kickstarter aren’t asking for preorders. They are asking for venture capital. Donations. They aren’t selling you a product. They are selling you their idea of a product. That’s why I think it’s a bad idea for regular joes to participate in this stuff. You are paying for promises not products.
And this is why I don’t back anything without a proven track record.
Investment = gambling. Sometimes the odds are better, and sometimes worse.
Time to move on OP
by this logic, Silksong is a scam because TC has basically been radio silent
Dead game
Are we just ignoring the fact that so many crowdfunded games are scams?
I backed this like 10 years ago. Hope they get to the finish line soon
Legally speaking, you are almost certainly just shit out of luck. As long as they more or less spent the money in some capacity on developing the game (even if it just went into salaries for them supposedly working on it), they don’t legally owe you anything. You are legally investing money in the company. Putting the money into a game that collapses in failure and never gets completed is not fraudulent. You just made a bad investment. To be fraud, you would have to prove in court that they just took the money and ran. Since the company no longer exists, this would be enormously difficult and expensive to prove.
It sucks, but there’s not much you can do about it. I advise not investing in any kickstarter campaign for any company without a proven track-record of results in the future.
I really hope it’s not, I always thought it looked really good
What’s crazy is that this is a relatively simple game from the appearance. It was a strange little indie adventure game with a good art style and the scale of some sort of grand adventure with goofy encounters. It was always a bit ambiguous as to how the game would actually play since it seemed to feature a combination of third person melee and shooter combat. The game seemed comprised of zones with vehicle transportation between points of interest. There were some interesting massive enemies shown such as a dragon, a kraken, etc.
We were drip fed content, until about 6 years ago when a gameplay trailer was released showing survival mechanics such as injury, hunger, and dehydration. The UI was also shown with a relatively simple linework. The videos shown in this time-frame were of an open world map traversed by donkey. This culminated in another trailer which showed off the Desert area. The next trailer was a Snow level. Where the player had to don a warm coat and struggle to survive in that environment. It showed off cooking too. Then we got the Yeti Bossfight which showed off some hack and slash combat with a dodge roll.
THEN 2 years ago the game resurfaced with a greatly revamped trailer. This was by far the most “complete” look at the game yet. It showed off an overworld map which now acts as the main mode of traversal, where the main character goes to points of interest where it zooms in to the more conventional gameplay we had seen up until this point. The game now seems to have been restructured away from an open world and instead to an overworld which connects all the points of interest. The game’s release date was shown as 2022 at that point.
Since then it has been silence. Ultimately, I am a bit disappointed with how the game has developed. Dropping the open world is especially concerning since traversal was shown as a main draw early in its development. Ultimately this game will likely appear again as it has a strong art style which will ultimately get people excited.
I learned quickly that Kickstarter is a gamble. You can research creators to see if that gamble pays off, but sometimes you just get burned. Also, most projects never come close to their proposed timelines. There’s no getting your money back if the creator steals it. For me, it was Darkness Sabotage.
I’ve backed a lot of games, and the vast majority have come to fruition (Pillars of Eternity, Shadowrun Returns, Obduction, Broken Age, Tides of Numenera, Wasteland 2, FTL, Hyper Light Drifter, etc). However, Kickstarter campaigns flaming out is also completely normal. Yes it sucks, but it happens sometimes. Making games is hard.
Failed projects I backed: Last Life, Elysian Shadows, After Reset, Judged, That Which Sleeps, Loading Human
EDIT: Just did a count: 21 succeeded, 6 failed, 1 pending (Nighthawks). A couple of them (SpaceVenture and Hiveswap) I thought might never happen, but eventually got out the door. Not too bad, all things considered.
I have been keeping an eye on this game as well. I will be disappointed if it is a scam and never releases. It had a lot going for it.
How does Sony kleep falling for this? They promoted this AND “Abandoned”, the latter being a proven scam.
I don’t think it’s a scam at all. I think they had an idea for a game, revealed it, saw negative feedback to aspects that were actually crucial game play elements, and went back into development trying to address them. I don’t know how big their team is, but my opinion is that they were just in over their heads.
It’s not the same situation as say The Day Before where everything looked copy pasted from other games, all the way down to the trailer beats.
Little Devil Inside looked completely unique. They had an idea but just couldn’t deliver upon it when the pressure started to rise.
So, not a scam. However, this is the risk you run funding these random developers. Game development is difficult, and just because you have the finances needed, that doesn’t mean you can figure everything else out.
You should investigate the company and post it online of your findings and ask around. Really find out the answers . Company. Developers, etc . Really stuck it to them and find some answers
In this thread OP learns the difference between investing and pre-ordering. Lol
Sounds like someone got scammed and wants to be coddled for their shitty money management instead of actually using their due diligence to know a scam from a mile away. Sucks to suck.
Imagine thinking something on kickstarter is guaranteed to be released. Do people still think everything on kickstarter is for sure going to come out? It’s made very clear that kickstarter is for investing in an idea, not a finished product…..
I was literally just looking up this game a few days ago to see what happened. Sucks.
Welcome to the world of video game crowdfunding. For every successful game that comes to market through crowdfunding, there’s 100 projects that are abandoned. Cut your losses and move on.
Dang. I loved the art style this would have had.
Never heard of this game. Looks awesome. Hope it’s not dead.
“game has been deemed a scam”
Yeah there’s your answer bub.
Not really, I think your problem is thinking it was an investment which it is very clearly spelled out that is not.
I didn’t back this game on Kickstarter but I did see the trailer. It instantly made me feel like a kid, the art style the gameplay it looked amazing. I had been following it very closely, then when it disappeared I was disappointed but then when it popped up on Playstations page I got excited again. So now every time a State of Play happens I am waiting for it. One day I hope it comes out but in the meantime there are so many other good games to keep me entertained.
Don’t post this on the r/PS5 otherwise they’ll call you a PlayStation hater…
I was really looking forward to seeing more on this game and have been wondering what the status was on it. I luckily didn’t invest any money into It so if it’s gone forever I at least didn’t lose out on anything. Would love to see it actually come out though.
