It has always been a glorified price cut, even NVIDIA knew that.

  2. Blacksad9999

They stated the performance uplift and specs awhile ago. lol Not sure why people are acting shocked. It’s a normal mid generation refresh: A slight performance bump with a price cut. Usually when the performance uplift is high, like with the 2070 Super, they don’t give a price cut.

I’m often surprised reading here how peeps can hang out here and yet miss about 99% of the info posted here.

Like some dudes in a thread are all being “wow this is so new!” to a thing that’s been posted on the sub multiple times and is even in Hot at the top, but they’re in Rising in a thread posted “30 minutes ago” that’s just a duplicate.

  4. First-Junket124

So you’re saying if I have 10k FPS then I get a performance boost of 500 FPS? That’s amazing

  5. ClimacticCoconut

Why does this sub keep changing the numbers?

GN had a pretty clear and comprehensive test that indicated less than 3%. Not 5%.

And in most cases where a casual gamer does not have a GPU focused testing rig, the differences are probably closer to 0-1% in most uses.

And in fact, some OC variants of the regular 4080 may match or outperform a standard 4080 super.

Don’t hype memes up like this, this is a fabricated representation of reality

  6. WalkieTalkieFreakie

For me it’s the price drop that never happened

  7. Individual-Match-798

4080S is a) faster (slightly); b) cheaper (slightly). It’s a fucking win-win and still people are bitching lol

  8. ______________fuck

Remember the 4080 is being replaced by the super

Its not an upgrade for current 4080 owners..

  9. the_abortionat0r

Did Nvidia actually announce that? Normally they do some Xtimes better than a 2060 with RT and DLSS 3 frame Gen bullshit.

Stop being but hurt “your brand” isn’t being praised for selling non upgrade.

  10. isadlymaybewrong

People on this sub view graphics card prices as one of the most important political issues of our times

  11. mrchicano209

Don’t forget how the Ti Super was suppose to be a slightly underclocked 4080 for $400 less and it turned out to be a slightly overclocked 4070 Ti as it was advertised to be yet people still deemed it literal dogshit and a waste of the earth’s resources.

  12. Bad_Hominid

Slight performance bump for hundreds of dollars less? Boo! Hiss! Catcall!

  13. allMightyMostHigh

Doesn’t matter in the slightest how small the bump is considering the msrp is is now 1000$

  14. FeetYeastForB12

Either be rich enough to get a 4090 or just get an AMD’s new GPUs. They’re better and HALF the performance for comparably good raw performance output.

  15. stumptified78

There will be people throwing this on a credit card just for 5% improvement over their 4080. And then complain about their student loan forgiveness. Just sayin.

  16. Mygaffer

Except it only has 1-3% better performance…

  17. Psychonautz6

Funny because when someone says that the 7900XTX is 3% faster than the 4080 everyone says it’s huge but when you say that the 4080S is 3% faster than the 4080 it’s meaningless

  18. Puzzled-Software8358

    The price cut?

    ![gif](giphy|6uGhT1O4sxpi8)

  19. GipsyRonin

It was just a price cut with small refinements to take on the 7900 XTX as that was the better buy. Now the top tier cards are neck and neck. I do not consider the 4090 as that is just a standalone Uber enthusiasts card that needs to absolute best each release. As it is the 3090 is the same if not a touch slower than a 4070 Ti. So the 4090 will be same speed as the eventual 5070 Ti. They all drop in power but $1600 is a NEVER. $999 is insane.

  20. cinaedhvik

The value is the price cut not the performance delta.

Except that functionally there is no price cut cause scalpers have already snatched them up to resell at 2k.

  21. SuspicousBananas

All the benchmarks I’ve seen have been showing 2%-3% increases, where did you see 5%

  22. justMeat

The 4 series supers are being posted about in all the relevant subs with reposts just minutes apart. This is an amazingly successful advertising campaign. I don’t think there’s anything positive they could have done to get so much attention on their product for so little effort.

  23. It’s (very) slightly faster and it’s slightly cheaper. What is the problem here?

  24. ldontgeit

What i have noticed is that most of the “haters” are 7900xtx owners.

They need to criticized others so they can feel better about their choices.

  25. Anaeijon

Wait… I recently had the list open.

-wasn’t there some quite significant improvement on the tensor operations?-

*Edit: sorry, my mistake. Probably was some other GPU. 4070 vs 4070 Ti I guess*

I can’t find it anymore, but looked promising for deep learning stuff, which we might be getting more of in upcoming games, especially DLSS frame generation and 4K upsampling.

  26. the 4080 super is just a 4080, that’s it.

there is nothing super about it.
