
I’ve been having problems with the gpu failing and fans going to 100%. Been trying undervolting the card to 0.9 volts and testing for stability using kombustor. After around 8 minutes, the gpu began to throttle and fps dropped from around 85 to 75 and voltage from 0.9V to 0.875. What’s really puzzling me is that the VIN5 slot, which is the power to the pcie, is still getting 0.9 volts. Where’s the extra 0.025 volts going?

Also a few more things to note:
I have some MX-6 coming tomorrow so hopefully that improves thermals over the TF4 I’m currently using
Under the GPU power in Kombustor, the current power randomly jumps to 98-99% TDP while only drawing around 205 W (Card is rated at 250 W)
Have you changed the thermal pads before? Also can you elaborate on the type of issues u are facing. As far as the voltage goes it isn’t the issue it is just the GPU dynamically changing voltage to change the clock speed. Also maybe it is .875 but goes to .900v when the clock suddenly shoots up like u can see it went to 1900mhz but stabilizes later
Also the vin 5 isn’t for the pcie lane for GPU but it is for ur chipset , the pcie slot provides 12 v not less than 1 v
I used to get that with too high memory ocs. Fans 100% and black screen.
Could try and underclock the memory to see if it still happens.
Edit : it also happened with melted pins on the psu cable. Did you physically check the pins?
Well I don’t have that card but on my rtx 3070 once I by mistake changed the pads from 0.5mm to 1mm and after powering on the system wouldn’t boot but the GPU fans will like max out so that’s y I am considering this issue
