    A laptop charger is a power supply, yes.

    So are the small chargers for your phone or the even larger ones for a car.

    A unit that supplies power is a PSU, yes.

    It would be most similar to the 12v only PSU spec that has been attempted the last few years. Because the 1.2v and other voltages are generated at the motherboard side. The laptop also has the charging ic as well which is outside the realm of what a tower pc would have.

    Yes, but also not exactly the same. A standard ATX power supply turns 220V AC into +12V, +5V, +3.3V and -12V (though this negative one basically isn’t used anymore)

    The laptop power supply turns 220V into 19V (usually) and then the laptop motherboard turns it into other voltages that the PC needs.

    [You can also get a small daughterboard that turns an external 12V PSU into an ATX standard plug.](https://www.cartft.com/image_db/picoPSU-150-XT.jpg) Obviously this is only meant for SFF, low power PCs.

    I hope gamming laptop manufacturers adopt USB C (240w ) charging.
    This chargers are really annoying and heavy . My bag weights a kilo more because of charger.

    They are quite literally a PSU. They are external, and that’s pretty much their only difference to a PSU in terms of function

    What laptop is that, and what is the power rating of it (its volts and amps?) Trying to see if you could get an adafruit barrel to type c charge cable to a PD power brick instead of this cabled flex PSU

    Are they more of a transformer? plugged in 120 or 240 volts, and outputs 19v to the laptop for example?
