try 4k resolution in games on a 1080p monitor and welcome back home

  2. Nir_Auris

I got a 4K monitor in November, the differnce between FHD and 4K was so big my eyes hurt after a few minutes of playing in 4K

  3. Honestly it depends what I’m playing. Hell yeah PC games can be annoying, but console games
I can handle even 720p (PS3) since I’ll sit back and relax from a further distance.

1440p ultra wide is the sweet spot

With my 4080 i can actually play most of my games in 4k 144 FPS.
(I’d say 90% of them on a stable basis).
    It’s a pleasure for the eyes !
Sometimes I even have more pleasure to look at my screen than interact with the game.

1080p and 60fps, it’s all I need. If I don’t upgrade my screen my graphics card performs better because I’m not trying to get 1440p 144hz, that’s what I tell myself.

It certaintely feels this way. 1080p used to look good, but after going to 4k 1080p is blurry as hell.

4k with pathtracing at 160hz on a 32 inch monitor.

    Just 4090 things.

thank god ive never seen any 4k screen yet. im too poor rn

  10. borfavor

I got glasses for the first time this week. The difference between the two is a lot larger than I thought…

Yep, also true with going back to 60hz after using a high refresh rate monitor. At first you think “This isn’t much different.” Then you try to go back but you simply can’t.

  12. Don’t try 4k. You will hate it in many ways. Happy with 1440p

  13. David0ne86

    At all lol.

Oh wait im dumb, i thought we were talking 1440p to 4k lmao. Then yes, the jump from 1080p to 4k is huge. I definitely noticed even from 1080p to 1440p. Especially if you do it like me coming from a shit office like quality panel (was a samsung 19 inches monitor lol) to a 27 inches quality monitor (LF 27GN850P).

Im still on 1080p bc i need to upgrade my gfx card (5600xt) for consistent performance higher res, but because ive never made the jump to 1440/4K im still in blissful ignorance and it looks great to me. Ive used my pc on a tv that supports 4k and games ran /ok/ at 1440p sometimes, but 100fps at 1080p vs maybe 60fps(if lucky) at 1440p ill always take higher fps, even in story games. 100fps just feels gorgeous

I’m more of a 240hz person. God that smoothness

  16. AndroidNougat7

That’s me since 2017 – after I played games in 4K, I never wanted 1080p again on my desktop.

  17. Juice_231

I got this feeling just from bumping up to 1440p. Sold my 1080p monitor a month later.

  18. HenryLongHead

It all boils down to the physical size. For 27″ 4k is overkill.

  19. x33storm

Those two frames, are also the framerate at 4K.

  20. It actually is like that, and not just in games. I have two 1080p monitors at work, 60Hz, nothing special. At home I have 4K 144Hz monitor, the text, everything is so much sharper in comparison. I enjoy working from home a lot more now haha.

  21. uSuperDick

If u use 1080p on 4k monitor obviously its a blurry mess. But 1080p on 1080p monitor looks significantly better

  22. multiwirth_

    4k 50″ ≈ 25″ 1080p.
Really don’t have any issues going back to 1080p.
