If that battery where to puncture, despite everything you are wearing, you are still unprotected from the biggest hazard, the toxic fumes that results from the hydro-reactivity of lithium.

Literally everything in this picture is going to be fuel if that battery gets punctured and burns. Not to mention the toxic gases released by that r/spicypillow. Prying that battery free of the case (presumably it’s one of those idiotic designs where the battery is glued down for some reason) is something I would certainly not do indoors.

At least invest in a safety saucepan. Anything starts looking too spicy, the whole thing goes in the pan, lid goes on the pan, and you get the fuck out.

Discharge to zero volts – no danger then.
Alligator clips and a 12V halogen bulb.
That’s only a teensy battery too. Had to do this with some 2.5kwh pylontechs that had done the same thing – 48V @ 50AH is no joke. They had burst their metal rack case.

Am I the only one here that would just yank it out, put the new one in, toss the old one in the trunk and drop it off at best buy in a few weeks?
