They don’t give a fuck about legit users or linux, and they already stated they hate mods. They just want to install that Russian spyware in all the PCs they can

This is going to tank their ability to run on Steam Deck? LOL. This is huge if true.

Didn’t this turn out to not be a thing?…

I’m sorry, but calling the SD modding community huge is a bit wishful thinking. It’s sold like at most 2 million units afaik. I wouldn’t exactly call that huge, specially since only like 2% of owners are dabble in modding.
Not that Capcom did a good thing here, but their choice was never one that made them sweat.

To everyone seeing this here’s the context: Capcom updated their DRM in some of their games to Enigma and Monster Hunter Rise is currently no longer working on steam Deck at this time.
What OP has failed to mention is 1) Capcom is already looking into a fix to get Rise back up and working on steam Deck.
2) Rise is the only game that seems to be effected in this way. Many games under Capcom have been using Enigma and still function without issue on steam deck (battle network collection has had it for a while now and has had zero issues).
3) there has been nothing confirming that it is Enigma itself that is causing the issue. Everyone jumped into the idea of “Last update added Enigma, it must be that”. No one has stopped and looked at other facts like that Denuvo was removed was removed and replaced by Enigma. I am not a software engineer or a developer so don’t take my word as fact, but it is POSSIBLE that Proton might be getting hung up looking for something for Denuvo and can’t run it because it’s not there.

Yeah because that will stop pirated copies being distributed everywhere just to fuck with capcom.
Capcom y u so stoopid?!?

This sucks so much it’s hard to put it into words. I love Capcom since I was a kid, witnessing this kind of stuff is disheartening

So again, some greedy suits fuck up things that work.

To those parroting: “It’s misinformation! It wasn’t the DRM, it was a bug!”
A number of games, whose most recent updates encompassed the addition of DRM, have been broken.
A bug within and/or caused by the DRM. With all their billions of dollars, Capcom couldn’t even be bothered to test their patch on multiple platforms to ensure that it worked, resulting in an unprecedented service outage to a significant number of users who otherwise already had a perfectly functioning product.
What’s the point of adding DRM to games that are years old, whose player-bases are primarily single-player, and the majority of whose mods are cosmetic changes, not exploits? Even if exploits are being used, these games aren’t competitive, no harm no foul. The point is that there is no reason, it’s just blatant anti-consumerism measures taken to breach privacy.
The inclusion of 3rd-party DRM, account registration and EULA must be advertised on a Steam game’s storefront, as it is a major deciding factor whether or not people should wish to purchase said game. Adding such software after purchase and without it being disclosed from the store-front is overtly deceptive and ***should*** be considered false-advertisement or at least warrant a grace-period for customers to refund said product.

And it looks like Capcom is demoted to my $20 or less wait bin. I can be a patient gamer with these guys, my list of games I need to get to is already impossible to complete anyways.

Capcom is so clueless. Any mod that they do not put out they consider “cheating” even if it does not provide any additional advantage…like the fly swatter in RE 8. Go figure.

I am sure they gonna miss 2% of the players, oh they won’t even notice

Capcom become Crapcom again?
Disagree. They are pressing the right button like there is no tomorrow
