Laptop is Lenovo slim 7 14 with an AMD 7640S. Started happening the moment I started using the laptop on the train. Rebooting doesn’t do anything. Also tried changing power supplies and different ports, doesn’t fix it. Thinking it could be something to do with the power sockets. Any ideas?

Laptop might have some grounding issues?

Idk if it helps but when my laptop had issues when plugged in it turned out to be an issue with the charger

  3. Grounding issue? You look to be on a train or plane, maybe that is the issue.

  4. 95% of the times this problem is because of a defective charger. Try charging it with another one and see.

My mom’s phone has a similar problem. Whenever it’s plugged in it’s basically unusable because sometimes taps don’t register and the taps that do register are way off from where you actually tapped. No idea what’s going on

Maybe when connected to the charger a different power consumption mode enables and it’s been set by mistake to something along the lines of « low performance or power saving mode » wich may cause things to run especially slow, even the mouse motion on screen.

Try to use extension cord that has surge protection and ground indicator. If the ground indicator is green and current is stable then it’s either the charger or an issue with the wiring interference inside the laptop

Grounding issue also has my vote:
Test: put your left hand on the laptop case next tonten trackpad, then try using the trackpad.
If your left hand grounds the case, the trackpad might have fewer issues.

What’s the power rating of your USB C chargers, are they delivering enough power?

“when plugged in” just unplug it lol

  11. Either a bad charger or a grounding issue (most likely the outlet isn’t grounded (properly)). I’ve had this issue on my phone, when plugging into some public power outlets (e.g. airport) with a definitely good charger.
