Why does he have a shadow? isn’t he a “Hologram”?

Not a hologram, more like a visual hallucination, so the shadow makes sense.

  2. How can he grab a chair and sit on it? How can he push V over?

He’s not a hologram, he’s a projection that lives entirely in V’s mind. V knows that people should have shadows, V’s mind accepts Johnny’s personhood, therefore Johnny has a shadow.

This leaves a little need for explaining why Johnny “glitches out” when V gets too close to him. I guess that’s the relic coping with V and Johnny occupying the same space.

No, Johnny is a engram in your mind. So he is basically a visual hallucination that you can see moving around and ‘talking’ to you. It’s all in your mind so he can have shadows and move around rooms and appear to sit or stand in various locations.

  5. I mean, Johnny is there too. He shouldn’t be, and literally isn’t as confirmed by Phantom Liberty. Shadow could just be like how Johnny is there.

He’s not a hologram. A projection I guess? V’s mind fills the gap.

It’s the same reason he shown to move objects and push V down, it’s all in Vs head.

  8. Draedark

Apparently, you have yet to witness V’s shadow…..

He’s not a hologram, he’s a construct inside V’s head, projected as a visual entity through V’s eyes and the brain being a very powerful processor could visualise a shadow for V’s Silverhand construct.

  10. Faceless_Deviant

    He’s not. He’s a constructed hallucination

  11. ElHombreSmokin

He is also hallucinating his shadow.

  12. MuddVader

He can even interact with the environment, but only in V’s head. Once he’s done, things pop back to how they actually are.

It’s more than just a hologram.

He’s integrated into V’s perception of reality.

he also moves a whole chair after you go to clouds looking for Evelyn but no one talks about it

You’re telling me you can imagine a person but a shadow is too much?

  15. Guys,

There’s a saying when it comes to films. “Suspend your disbelief.”

From the movie **Inception**, this would be like someone ranting on a dream machine couldn’t fit into a suitcase and not look like a laptop.

That’s not the point of the movie.

Just like how **Inception’s** point is the effect of the machine on the mind, the point of Johnny’s projection is that it’s real enough for V, and the effect of that projection on an otherwise normal thug.

Even if he was a hologram, if you can’t see through him, he’ll cast a shadow

Video game engine man, don’t think too hard about it

  18. Bumbleet2

By that logic, light wouldn’t be reflecting off of Johnny’s body.

I used to ask questions like this… Then I took an arrow to the knee….

Well V shouldn’t be seeing him at all. He experiences what he/she does. It’s just for reference and to show some famous person in a video game. I skip all his shit. One of the least compelling game characters in memory.

  21. I was really confused about how Johnny works when *someone* grabs V from behind and Johnny says that he can only see what V sees so he doesn’t know who’s the person behind

  22. Reaper-Leviathan

It’s pretty inconsistent what Johnny actually is. In PL when Reed sits behind you he says he sees through your eyes and can’t see anything you can’t see. But in other jobs it’s as if he can move around and see through the projection that V sees. Some times Johnny physically interacts with V and during gameplay (probably for said gameplay’s convenience) V can more right through Johnny.

My favorite Johnny detail is the cigarette floating in the air before or after he materializes

  24. oiluj213

he’s all in your head, including his shadow.

Here’s what I think; like other people mentioned I think he’s a projection of V’s mind therefore he can change V’s perception. Like when he punches us in the beginning scene, when we black out after relic malfunction we can see him grab our wrist, and again when he interacts with a stool and we perceive it to have moved.. I think part of it might be that the engram is the parasite, body is the host, therefore the body just yields to whatever the “host” perceives the physical world to be. Like when Johnny says he can only see what we see.
This is why I think he has a shadow, we perceive him to take up matter in space just as well as seeing him alter the position of objects, so, maybe just brain supplementing what it thinks should be there.

How do you have a shadow? Isn’t this a simulation?
