Hi there, if you have a 2/3 fan AIO or a really good tower cooler, you don’t need to upgrade your CPU. I ordered a 5700X but still 3600 with good OC is enough. My CPU is a silver sample so thermal performance is not good. I’ve been using OC for 2 years and had no issues. Here is my CPU-Z stats.

With OC 3600 performs like 32Mb Cache version of 5500. It performs better than any 3th gen Ryzen. Max. temp. on stress test is 72C. It shows that it is running on 4.45 GHz but it is 4.5 GHz.

    Please don’t spread lies. Try a 5600x /5800X3D and you will see why it is worth upgrading.

  3. Why would you compare zen 2 to a zen 3 APU that clocks at 4.2GHz (which mind you is what the early r5 3600 clocked at). It has less cache, 3600 is clocked beyond it and there is no point in comparing them. You mention a 5700x, did you actually try monitor ingame fps? Bc at 1080p 3600 and 5700x with a 4070 are worlds apart. You can’t debunk 20-30% gains (then there is the 2 extra cores as well..). Legit comparison would be 3600 to a 5600x (since the 3600 you have clocks like it’s an X bin). Also memory bandwidth and latency is left on the table with 3600 c18 oc.

    Edit: also you shouldn’t assume given good cooling each chip can OC to that point. It won’t.

    No, it performs like a 4.5 GHz clocked Ryzen 3600, which incidentally has 16MB of L3 cache per CCX. The total L3 cache isn’t all that important for gaming, you want a high amount of L3 cache available for 1 core.
