YouTube is loading slower for users with ad blockers yet again

Keep uBlock Origin updated, and whenever you get hit with this bullshit, try not to use YT at all.

  2. NoXion604

Really? Firefox/uBlock origin user here, I can’t say that I’ve noticed.

  3. I was noticing alot of playback errors recently where the video timeline almost looks like it’s fighting itself going back and forth, clearly the video/content has already been loaded but just watching the timeline you can clearly tell something is not right.

I was watching it on mobile earlier, and it wasn’t even a skip all button on the ads, it just skipped the rest of the one you were watching and played rhe next.

Looks about right, Chrome flickers like a tubelight when I watch videos on YouTube with AD Blocker

  6. I love that, using a third party client that strip down the harmful javascript from YouTube has the side effect to not be impacted since it load the video feed directly and not the rest.

But yeah, wait a few so that the uBlock list update and block the JS responsible for that.

That’s why I just speed up the ads on mute. Like they’re not even there

  8. DEUTSCHLANDDD

I was about to make a post here on why my youtube is suddenly so slow, well well well

It’s funny, it heavily effected my pc starting yesterday (which has never been effected before when they did this in the past) but it doesn’t effect my MacBook using the same chrome and same Adblock

What say you all to brave + unlock origin. Is there issues with brave in general, as I switched to it a while ago? The most ready suggestion seems to be firefox.

Oh. I was noticing issues this past week watching videos at 2x speed even as low as 1080p, it would occasionally buffer and even become jumpy in a way I’ve never seen before. I do run uBlock but I also have YT premium so I feel like I should be excluded from this. Am I?

I grew up with 56K modems, YouTube doesn’t understand my level of patience.

I’ve noticed this recently… Navigating videos was loading forever, hovering mouse over video didn’t show UI elements, just freezes. Click on pause/play was unresponsive or had like 5s lag…

I thought that my PC was dying, but then tried on other machines and had the same result.

Switched to edge, and it was smooth as butter.

What kind of game are they playing? I hope that some ambitious lawer is preparing a class-action against google…

YouTube Premium + Adblocker gets you no ads and no tracking, and YouTube honestly doesn’t care

  15. My Youtube has also been slow suddenly. But on the app. With premium on.

No idea what are they doing but they are fukin over the premium consumers as well.

  16. I have YouTube Premium, but my ad blocker has made Chrome slower in general.

  17. TheChrisD

The main issue is that just having the adblocker active was enough to cause the slowing issues — even if you have YT Premium; and the adblock is only for incognito windows.

  18. Noobeaterz

Nope. Working fine on Firefox with ublock origins.

  19. ReallyBadWizard

It straight up runs like shit for me. To the point that it was making me wonder what was actually wrong with my computer. It almost crashes chrome.

I noticed this weekend that Youtube was fighting again. Auto-pausing videos, stopping scrolling, loading slowly, it’s still better than the experience via the app on Roku, however. On their TV apps they will now show 4-5 short ads in a row during some breaks.

  21. Yeah i was wondering why my browser had slightly delay pausing/resume video.

  22. Wajina_Sloth

My favourite thing on youtube happens because of the forced slow down.

Basically I open a video, youtube tries to display an AD for a mobile game, and all I see is a cartoon ass about to be branded and it freezes on it for a few seconds.

I get mooned on like 5-10% of the videos.

  23. I’ll take a delay in videos versus the hundredth ad that has no relevance or entertainment value to me.

  24. oksorrynotsorry

    It’s true.
I was wondering why some videos seem to load slower lately

  25. Reaction times too.

When I full size the video I notice a big delay to do it. Happens when exit full screen too.

All actions in TY seem laggy now… Not cool YT.

  26. EmpheralCommission

We are going full circle back to DVRs I swear to God

  27. TransportationNo1

I think thats normal for every business. Why should the customer that only costs money on his own choice get the same treatment or product as the paying costumer?

  28. Catch_022

Bastards I thought I had an internet issue… And yes I do have YouTube premium.

  29. Cham-Cham

Took me some minutes to understand, really considered I started to mine Bitcoin for some asian dude.

  30. Stryker218

Extremely illegal and malicious. If they want to block adblocker that is fine but directly causing and spiking hardware is criminal. If your pc died you can blame google. The lawsuits are going to start flying!

  31. It’s really time we find ourselves an alternative, they can’t force their paid sub bullshit on us like that, this is NOT what the Internet was made for, and those companies only understand financial repercussions

  32. Chaoslord2000

I have premium and adblock. Still having issues.

  33. TheDutchTexan

Who cares. Get premium or stop watching it if you hate it so much. Really sick and tired of these karmawhore posts about YouTube being shit.

  34. Inevitable_Oil9709

    I made [adskipper.me](https://adskipper.me)

It can skip ads, block shorts and more. It is open source, works totally different that regular adblocker and undetectable by YouTube.

    You might find it useful.

  35. I’m not mad at this. I got no stake in YT, costs me nothing. It’s a business, I get it. Stop acting like it owes you anything if you put nothing into it.
