Looks like some of the VRM caps blew. Low quality board overheated and went boom boom.
A motherboard component died in spectacular fashion. No VRM cooling. A well designed/cooled board should’ve caught/prevented it before this happened. But proprietary BS doesn’t follow the rules, because you can’t upgrade/repair properly.
Probably an intentional error. The component just died inside the warranty, instead of outside of it.
Could be under warranty (Depends on if HP will blame user error for whatever reason). The board and PSU are probably both headed for the landfill.
this is why prebuilt makers never list the motherboard model in their ads
HP/DELL mobos have such garbage VRMs that they can’t handle a minimal load, sorry for your PC but stay away from alienware/hp and almost any prebuilds, really, they suck
That’s why decent boards have heatsinks on the VRMs.
For HP it’s probably cheaper to replace the blown boards under warranty than install a $1 heatsink on them.
Your motherboard has found a new place in heaven.
the motherboards in prebuilts typically suck.
its always a ‘*good’* omen when theres no heatsink on the vrm.
Hopefully the other components survived, but that board is gone.
You can’t put the magic smoke back after it comes out, thats what makes the PC work bro!
Lets hope its just under warranty or the case/pinout is standard.

Vrm fried. Totally fucked. Meybe you can get warrantied depends on manufacturer and or the place you got it from
