For a long while, Xbox has discussed going beyond the console. What that entailed was bring games to things like PC, Mobile, and smart TVs. However, this next step that they’re reported to be taking in 2024 can stand to change gaming as we know it.

  1. Xbox just needs to say “sorry y’all, we ain’t that good at this. We out.”

    Publisher status unlocked.

Ubisoft / EA / Sega saying “bout time.”

  2. WRONG Mr. Matty Sir. Its like Griffin gaming recently admitted, its not that the Xbox messaging is sus, or wierd in some way, its been crystal clear for years. Its just the Xbox fanbase simply refuses it, cause its not what they want it to be. Everyone else gets exactly what Phil does or doesn't say every month or so, but you guys spin & deflect till he has to make the same statments over & over again.Hell Matty, you even got that old tymer Iron Lord dude, the line holder finally seeing the light & putting his eggs in the Nintendo Switch 2 basket! The 360 is NEVER coming back, how grown ass men cant fathom that is just plain wierd. STOP IT ALREADY!

  3. These rumors scream fake, however I would be fine with sea of thieves going to switch and PlayStation since it’s a live service game

  4. I guarantee that the optics will be bad if games like Hi-Fi Rush and especially Sea of Thieves land on other consoles without Microsoft explaining their strategy to their fanbase before it happens.

Every single release from that point on will be questioned. No one will believe what Xbox says. Just think about it. People still think Starfield is going to release on the Playstation. The moment gamers think that Xbox consoles have no value, there will be a lot of negative chatter. Gamers will abandon the console and developers will go with them.

If you think that's all, it get's worse. With a lot of gamers flocking to the Playstation, that now makes the Playstation console compete more with PC. Developers who were supporting multiple consoles in order to make more money have less incentive to do so. They can double down on the Playstation that provides a single configuration and a huge installed base.

  5. Xbox will be a huge laughing stock if they release exclusives on playstation without anything in return

  6. I still say Xbox’s first major acquisition should’ve been Valve. Establish the Steam as their PC outlet and the Deck as their handheld platform while retaining their console. This way all their outlets be their own and keep it in the same ecosystem.
After that they build up with Zenimax and ABK.

  7. More over reacting drama about a 5 year old game and high fi rush that only the media keeps going on about and nobody plays anymore

  8. It's almost like these big companies make more from game sales than they do from selling consoles at a loss…

  9. how would game pass on other consoles even be possible? Microsoft would need to port every exclusive they own to Switch/PS5 and at that point Xbox would be completely pointless and probably game pass would be dead too.

  10. I wonder if gaming will eventually go the route of streaming services. Where a movie will hop from service to service every few months and you are encouraged to sign up for their service because this AAA game is on our service but won't be around forever unless you buy it. It could be good for the studios that's not owned by the major companies. Maybe it could be set up like music where they get a royalty as their game moves from service to service every few months.

  11. Maybe im just oblivious but i always thought pretty universally everyone hated console exclusivity, but now xbox wants to put games on other platforms and people are upset? Like come on are people really still fighting console wars lmao. I thought people play games on xbox because they like xbox who tf cares if someone can play the same games on another platform? Seems like people are just envious cuz PlayStation is so damn anti-consumer wit their bs exclusivity model.

  12. Very idiotic move by Xbox another huge L from them to get rid of two great exclusives 🤦🏾‍♂️

  13. Remember it starts small. Hi fi rush here sea of thieves there. We all get use to it as many like Mr Marty has. Then eventually they bring AAA stuff then it’s day one on other platforms. This if true is a bad bad move and it just supports why Sony is on top. Exclusive games you can only get there

  14. cannot imagine being upset that an exclusive gets the opportunity to find new fans on other platforms, my brain just can't process that.

  15. I think that if the xbox fan base wants to continue having games pass the way it is this probably has to happen. Just because Microsoft has tons of money doesn’t mean it likes or wants Xbox to keep on not being profitable. I mean be honest most people with a Xbox don’t buy games and just play on games pass and that hurts Xbox. Xbox people can still do that and those on other platforms will pay to keep it that way. It works.

  16. "xbox needs airtight messaging" I heavily disagree with this, xbox's messaging is only inconsistent because they have taken a high flexibility and adaptability model to running their business which will keep them alive indefinitely. it isn't a problem for Microsoft to fix (I don't forsee this having a large impact, it will have at most a middling impact but people will blow it way out of proportion like they love to do [especially with Xbox], and the people who will care about it will be the "tourists" which go the way the wind blows (or if they are contrarians against the wind) and as such aren't really worth catering too), it is a problem of audience behaviours and the audience should change how they behave (I kind of hate that I have to say this, but grow up, this is honestly very childish behaviour). I have absolutely no problem with xbox porting some of their games to other platforms, however given that the xbox brand is built almost entirely on appealing to special interests (always has really) and that has been what has worked for them in the past.

that being said, I would only expect games that fulfil most of the following criteria to be ported:
    – mass market or general interest games
    – are at least 3 (or more probably 5) years old
    – are not flagship titles
    – are crossplatform multiplayer
    – are of middling popularity

this is the opinion of someone who grew up on xbox but transitioned to PC and now 99% of my gaming is on PC, with absolutely no interest in Sony's IP, I don't want to play a movie, that is incredibly dull to me.

  17. I'll admit I was thinking of upgrading my Xbox Series S to an X, but if it's true that the Playstation 5 is going to get many Xbox exclusives, I may get that to get the best of both worlds.

  18. I think because Xbox has a much smaller market share it makes sense to bring some games that are not going so sell noticeably more to other platforms. For example bringing Sea of Thieves to PlayStation helps the game with more players. The same thing doesn't make sense for Sony though. PS5 is outselling Xbox in nearly every country with a big margin so it's not necessary for them to bring something like Horizon or God of War to other platforms. They just do it for PC and that's years after the game original release on PlayStation.

Also I believe bringing Game Pass to other rival platforms like PlayStation will be the end of Xbox hardware.

  19. I am fine if they do this with gaas titles. The boost sea of thieves would get would keep the game going for a long time. Single player HAS to stay exclusive or the brand identity dies.

Xbox needs to get in front of this and be clear

  20. Nate, grubb and totilo, corden and others are saying it. At that point its almost as confirmed.

To be honest with the focus on gamepass they seemingly wanted out of hardware anyways.

  21. Company need to profit, basic rule.
Since gamepass subs still far off from projection, it might not sustainable for long run.

  22. it's actually marketing genius. play on gamepass day one or delayed full price release everywhere else.
""It's a bit of a change of strategy. Not announcing anything broadly here, but our mission is to bring our first-party experiences [and] our subscription services to every screen that can play games…. That means smart TVs, that means mobile devices, that means what we would have thought of as competitors in the past like PlayStation and Nintendo." – Tim Stuart. Not sur why eveyone is so shocked about this, Ms made thier plans clear months ago.

  23. Xbox needs to focus on just making their own games instead of stealing from PlayStation like they have for the entire Xbox lifespan

  24. just an observation. I watch this channel bc I like Matty's takes and his style, but why do all is videos have ~100 dislikes all the time? Do people really subscribe just to dislike his videos? Crazy stuff.

  25. Everyone in the comments think they are smarter than Microsoft at economics. I doubt it. I think what we are seeing is a changing market in video games. Both Microsoft and sony are both facing the same problems.
Microsoft will adapt more quickly than sony. There could be big disruptions in the future with politics or technology people in the comments don't know exactly what will happen.

  26. This is something I’ve been saying is a positive from Xbox.
    I don’t like exclusives, YOU SHOULDN’T EITHER!!!

Are you really commending a company for making it where you HAVE to buy their console in order to play certain games???
I personally had to buy a Ps5 specifically to play Spider-Man Miles Morales… 600$ and then it sat on my entertainment center for months, i gave it away…
    Then Spider-Man 2 comes out…
600$ more just to play a single game and never play the console again…
Is this what y’all are cheering for??
“Aw man i only have a Ps5, and now i cant play this game that just came out for the Switch” “guess ill have to buy a Switch” (or cant because they may be kids)

This is literally the stupidest thing gamers do.
Bragging about which system has more exclusives.

  27. I have no desire to ever have game pass because I buy like one game a year and nothing on game pass interests me so until they force it upon is all ill never sign up and its very expensive way more expensive then 12 months of live.

  28. First party exclusives aside from call of duty should never go to competing platforms. If they want to sell third party exclusives that’s another story.

  29. Basically they’re buying everyone and then hoping to bring gamepass to other consoles so that people with other consoles can still pay to play the games. At least, it would be a good plan if it could work.

  30. If these games go to other platforms more people get to play those games. If you're an Xbox gamer, you don't lose anything. Other people just get to play what you did. Exclusivity is toxic to the industry and should be phased out. I cannot sit here and praise Xbox for their work on expanding their platform to PC and by allowing more gamers to play their games than any other platform and simultaneously think they should keep their games exclusive. I think it's a little petty to be salty about this. I love when developers release their great games to more platforms. I know Sony fans would also be mad if Playstation released a bunch of their exclusives on Xbox and Nintendo, but why? You got what you wanted already. Be happy that more people get to experience something you like.

  31. Has any of this been confirmed? I could definitely see the odd title getting releases on other platforms. They will most likely do it for some legacy titles and smaller games after considering all the pros and cons, they’re smart enough to know it’s about more than selling copies. Seeing people actually believing this rumour confirms every 1st party Xbox game will be available on every platform is ridiculous 🤪

  32. Microsoft was/is a software company. I think they know their is power in making the stuff that runs on a thing more so than the thing…

  33. Exclusives are only to sell consoles. As much as I love Gears of War, State of Decay, etc. I also love TLOU, Spider-Man, etc. It’s a waste of money to buy a second console just to play like two or three games you like.

  34. Well, Um, If Only, Other Platforms Need To Be Receptive To Bringing Their Exclusives To Xbox Also, LIKE LAST OF US 2 and 1 From PlayStation, and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild From Nintendo,…..I WISH…… MAN ITS TO DAMN BAD THAT XBOX IS NOT AS POPULAR AS NINTENDO AND PLAYSTATION!!!!! I LOVE THE ECOSYSTEM OF XBOX!!!!!!

  35. Honestly if Xbox exclusives go to other systems.. there would be no reason to own an Xbox anymore. Only reason really would be is to have them day 1 on Xbox with gamepass but is that enough?
