i9 14900K: Would raising Core VID increase boost clock freq? If so does raising DC_LL raise Core VID?

    Hi one and all,

    I hope you are well!

    As per the question. I have just started tuning my 14900k using AC_LL / DC_LL following this [recommended guide](https://www.overclock.net/threads/asus-maximus-z790-and-intel-i9-13900k-14900k-an-overclocking-and-tuning-guide.1801569/) over at [overclock.net](https://overclock.net)

    I am pretty happy so far, but see I am only getting boost freq on average of 5.35 all core. Also whilst under-load my cores do at points hit boost frequency of 5.7 across but not the 6HZ (they do when not running Cinebench)

    My thoughts is it maybe due to my CPU VID which on average is 1.068. The guide mentions about matching Vcore to VID so thus the reason for my question.

    **Insight:**

    The first image is a full run without resetting the monitor, so this takes into account pre-cinebench data. The second image I did another run but reset the data with about 7 mins left to run as I wanted to get a more true average under-load figure.

    **Current settings:**

    Everything set as stock apart from:

    * Max ICC CPU Current: 357 A (I had to do this due to not enough power to hit PL1 & PL2 at 253w)
    * PL1 & PL2 set to 253w
    * DC_LL set to 1.02
    * AC_LL set to 0.05

    True **averages** under-load from the second image are:

    * Core VID: 1.068
    * P Core Clocks: 5.35
    * Vcore: 1.138
    * CPU Package Power: 202w
    * CPU Package Temp 81c
    * Cinebench 2024 score: 2240

    If one of the more seasoned OC’ers can let me know if that is correct (or not correct), that would be much appreciated!

    Your core vid and core should be within +- 5% or VRM power and cpu power within 15 watts. That is controlled via DC. I had to go to 1.04 VS .98 ll4 Or 1.02 that the guide suggests.

    This should yield full boost to 5.7 all core load with ease. Some cpus though because they require more voltage may not because of the 253 power limit. You seem to be a little high at .05 for stock. Albeit your VID is much lower than your core so that is culprit – your cpu is asking for less you are compensating with more.

    The thermal boost of 6ghz will hit as long as you have the high / gaming etc .power plan enabled.

    So my suggestion is – attempt to match vid and vcore – keep your ac for now to ensure stability – lower the DC to .98 and see how well it matches. Obviously raise above 1.02 if we swung too far in the wrong direction. Try 1.04 which is where I landed. Then retune down your ac.

    Make sure your windows power plan is set to gaming / high etc, so your cores will boost.
