  1. I still have it in my PC. Saved from old one from 2009.

What is that even for? I got one once but never knew what it was.

Managed to fix a pc that for all money was DOA with the beep codes from that kind of speaker narrowing down possible causes quite drastically.

Turned out to be a dead 8GB RAM stick and since the PC is only used in the living room for streaming via Ethernet and an old GTX 970, I just took it out with the remaining working 8GB stick left in it.

One came with my new case, Haven’t had one for like 13 years. i pluged it instantly, I missed that little bip when you power on

  5. felt stuipid having to buy one back in the day,if you dont have a QLED display on your Mobo, this thing is the best help you can have

A few years ago, I wanted one for a new build so ordered one on eBay.

Received one… whole bag full, more than all the PCs I’ll every build in my life

I still have one that I connect for first startup but after that it gets ripped out, I don’t wanna hear a beep on startup every time

  8. MrEdinLaw

Had to remove it as it was giving me some errors nobody found out what they were. So I guess it was just broken, been a month or two now without issues.

Fun fact. We don’t use those in the workshop. Hardware can fail yet not trigger codes or awareness of failure.

Also one of our new guys built a few systems and installed them. We had hilarious confused complaints the systems were beeping on startup.

My ancient asus p4sdx was talking to me instead of beeping.

  11. Bah, give me a 7-segment display instead. Too bad most recent gen of motherboards have delegated that to be a premium feature. Penny pinching done wrong by manufacturers.

I’ve built a whole System once and it wouldn’t boot.
And without a speaker I had no clue what the problem was.
So I built one myself with some cables I had laying around and the small speaker from one of my sons toys I disassembled.
    Worked like a charm.

Saved my ancient build more than once, hear beep sequence, search what it means , find that the motherboard ram slot died, not the ram itself

Simple times, I’ll miss that loud ass beep

  14. Lanceo90

My AM4 mobo came with one.

About a year ago it started going crazy on boot up though.

But nothing is wrong. So I yoinked it.

What are the specs of that thing? Can I do one like that with an old laptop mike? (It’s just a roind head and two cables)

  16. Andromeda_53

Amazon swindled me with these. I needed to buy one to fix a friend’s pc as I could not figure out at all what was wrong.
    I could of bought 1 for £2 OR a pack of 10 for £4.50

Well fuck me now I have 9 of them sitting in a draw. But I’m banking on that in 40 years or some shit I’m gonna need one, and they will be sitting there waiting for me

  17. My mac though… has speaker, cant get into bios…
