So my friend and i build our pc’s at about the same time, he laughed at me for buying the rtx4080.
He got the 7900xt and he just send me this pic.
I called him and laughed on the phone and then hung up the phone.
10 min later i went to him and fixed it tho “im not that bad of a friend” with a simple driver reinstall and reinstalled adrenaline.

Nuts this issue still exists and idk who the blame goes to, either AMD or Microsoft.
Afaik, its Windows that keeps reinstalling old drivers, overwriting the new, which causes this issue.
I think the issue is present because Microsoft tends to use AMD, and has drivers autoinstall for its devices, which causes issues for people who build their own w/ amd.
I could be wrong though, I haven’t seen an answer, but I haven’t looked very hard for it.
Ah yes, AMD bad because Microsoft… Makes sense.
Thats funny because of all the Nvidia driver issues lately with newer drivers introducing stutters and hot fixes left and right.
I’ve never understood the AMD driver hate. I’ve had an all AMD-Setup for the past 2->3 yrs [3600 rx570 -> 5600x 6700XT] and I’ve never had a driver issue. Hell, I don’t even get prompted to update my drivers, I just remember randomly every 3-4 months and let it run while I eat oe something.
Microsoft issue not AMD.
At least AMD won’t set your house on fire due to a bad connector.
haha amd bad nvidia good am I right fellow gamers
haha nvidia bad amd good am I right fellow gamers
You friend built his PC, but didn’t know how to install a driver?
Lol, Microsoft just hates AMD for all obvious reasons 🥸
Will never forget building my first pc and struggling for weeks to find out why I kept BSOD… only to find out my brand new and card had known driver issues and there was basically no solution. Returned. 2070 super in. Flawless performance for 5 years now
this isn’t AMDs fault, this is a operating system issue where it overwrites installed drivers, it’s not a complex fix either. in regards to the moronic AMD vs nvidia debate, in the current market you get better value for going AMD and that’s not debatable, unless you’re buying a 4090. if you care about value based consumerism then AMD is the correct choice, if you need nvidia features, or you are purchasing a 4090 then nvidia is the correct choice.
i mean, this happened on my 3080ti at one point.
Wouldn’t really get tribal and start siding with a faction.
Why would someone make fun of you buying a 4080 lol, the card is a beast
raid meat capitalism corporations and fighting over them
is crazy
It’s fucking microsoft they always change my drivers then I can’t use amd adrenaline because drivers dont match and I have to reinstall it every few months, microsoft is a piece of shit
Windows once installed a network driver for my soundcard, the system didn’t start again, I had to restart it in maintenance mode and deinstall that crap manually. Oh and many other Microsoft webpage, service and other stuff don’t work at Microsoft, so I would blame them for sure. I use AMD too and had this issue, I had to install the group policy maneger as I only had a Windows 10 Home or something and disable it there as simply disabling it in Updates didn’t work, the things you learn…
Windows installed a 3 or 4 year old driver on my previous 1050ti system. It’s not just AMD.
Microsoft is a small company, they can’t afford to check what the hell updates they push.
Have an 6750XT and don’t have any driver issues.
The biggest problem I have I assume is game-related, where Overwatch 2 seems to take about 5 minutes to start using my graphics card to its fullest extent.
Like, I turn it on, and I get half the performance between GPU utilization is only at 40/50%… then at like, the 4-5minute mark, boom: Flawless – GPU utilization hits 100% and I’m golden.
Not going to blame AMD – just seems to be a new OW2 Issue – other games don’t do this. Could also be the system adjusting to the 8k mouse, or a stand-by mode isn’t dropping fast enough.
Just have my “Warm up match” and then I’m solid as a rock. 240fps @ 2k
Lmao the 5700xt driver issue has my next GPU purchase (probably 4070 super) almost certainly taking me away from AMD and never returning.
Shit’s an absolute joke with AMD GPUs and unfortunately Nvidia is the king for a reason
I’ve been using AMD GPUs for a long, long time and I’ve never had any issues. Always a problem with Nvidia. Seems subjective.
Tbh I’d laugh at you too for buying a 4080 when the 4080 Super is releasing on the 31st for $200 less and more performance
What’s with the Corpo dick sucking and brand loyalty, this is why Nvidia prices their GPUs so high and why people will always complain about why said prices are so high
Its not that hard a fix but still, SO SO glad I switched to nvidia. I’m glad I don’t have issues and massive performance hits every other update anymore.
Every GPU or Software has it’s flaws, my 980Ti gave me VRAM errors after 1,5 years. Just because one card failed doesn’t mean the whole GPU market of that brand is dogshit.
Nvidia is cool for AI and RTX, but AMD is just affordable as fuck. Both Brands are high quality.

I’ve owned both. Radeon always seemed to have more driver issues.
He made fun of you for buying a objectively better and more expensive GPU? Why?
This is a problem with windows
For anyone this happens to:
*Go to device manager and find your card
*Right click and enable device
*Right click again and disable device
*One more time and enable
Fuck knows what made me try this the first time but it’s been 100% successful in the 4 or 5 times it’s happened to me.
This is actually windows fault, you can fix it by telling it skip over updating drivers if you own windows pro. As far as I know this issue is caused by windows downloading the wrong version because it thinks the current version is out of date. I found a post a while ago that explained how to fix this issue and I’ve never had it happen since.
Bro… its just update the drivers trough adrenalin, no secret, its not even a problem, because you oress ok and the game opens
Tbh I’d also make sure Windows is up to date. My Adrenalin did NOT want to play nice because my windows was an older version.
Don’t know how you get these errors, are installing drivers not easy enough?
Not making fun, just boggles my mind on seeing so many of similar issues.
Did he try to follow the instructions in the error message?
My biggest issue with AMD drivers or cards is random stuttering and shader compilation that takes ages compared to nvidia.
Lol you think that windows doesn’t do this to Nvidia cards too?
This happens all the time to both
