I picked up these classics yesterday and I’ve already put a good dent in Burning Chrome! What other quintessential Cyberpunk works should I look out for?

I’m a big fan of “software” and “wetware” by Rudy Rucker. They have a more laid back surf vibe and humor than Gibson’s Sprawl Trilogy. The later few go to places that should almost be their own genre but the first two are a vision of an alternative direction cyberpunk could have gone.

“Count Zero” is a hard read right after Neuromancer but it pays off nicely in “Mona Lisa Overdrive” so I’d suggest both.

KW Jeter did two sequels to Blade Runner (“Edge of Human” , “Replicant Night”). They are jot amazing but they are fun reads if you prefer the world of Blade Runner to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

There is the “Mirror Shades” anthology that Rucker edited. He used to have a legit free copy on his site, and some of the stories in it are great.

I hope you enjoy Neuromancer, it is one of my favorite novels.

Trouble and Her Friends is great. Very Cyberpunky and well written. IMO, this is after you read Gibson’s Sprawl series and Snow Crash

You’re gonna want to get a copy of the 1986 cyber-punk story collection *Mirrorshades: The Cyberpunk Anthology* edited by Bruce Sterling.
