Except for when it didn’t really work, like when I tried to play Descent for the first time and got single-digit FPS 😭

Na more like we went from getting that finished product to patch it later or let ai do the work yes there were turds and some bad ports but nothing like the land off FSR DLSS frame gen hell hole we call pc gaming optimization now.

The hardware we have is far better than what we had not 6 years ago yet you hear 60fps with fsr 2.0 then cheers i am like are we for real yeall?. Game development teams for the most part have tossed away optimization totally needs ai up scaling tech to get us into the 60+ frame rate gap which is bs.

users cheered for this update thanked them for all there hard work cites 2 fsr 1.0 getting 22-30fps with a 2-3 grand pc
The fact a xbox 360 player in 2008 playing fallout 3 has the same framerate as a series x player playing starfield using fsr is a huge red flag.

I definitely remember a time when it was nowhere near guaranteed that a game would work on your PC. You’d meet the system requirements and the game would either barely function or not even launch at all. The problem was this was before Steam and you already opened your retail copy so you can’t return it to the store.

How about early 2000s? I was so stoked when my PC was finally able to run Battlefield 1942. I might have to install it again and give it a play for old times sake

I miss the old LAN party days where one dude would whip out a burned copy of the latest game and everyone is racing to install and crack it to play multiplayer. Then a few hours of ironing out a thousand issues we’d finally be playing. Maybe. Still great memories!

To get 140 FPS you must enable DLSS

90’s PC: Strap a Voodoo 2 on me and I’ll run anything for the next decade.

Same can be said for help requests for 300 fps fortnite, why tho?

Becuase on CRTs you didn’t have to get 140fps to have motion clarity. You could get 240hz on an LED and still not match the motion clarity and sharpness of a CRT. We’ve pretty much regressed with LEDs, but only becuase CRTs were a pain to mass produce and too heavy to transport for their size.

No need for AA, insane motion-clarity and response times, great black levels. CRTs were so much better if it weren’t for their weight and production problems.

You clearly wasn’t adult during the 90s. People did compare frames per second and argued about GPUs back then on the internet, you can just go into any old forum to see it.

It sucks harder when you need to roll back, the best GPU I had was a 1080 paired with a i5 7600k and I freaking loved that rig but was stolen while moving out a few years ago, between shit jobs the best thing I could afford after that was a 980 that lasted 3 months before dying and then a 1050 that my ups decided to burn taking also an i7 4770
Getting high fps and then going backwards is the worst honestly

I am still happy that I can play AAA games on 540p ,0.3 res scale, lowest settings

To be honest the vast majority of people going for anything over stable 60fps are the ones that go for the stretched 4:3, shadowless, *Play-Doh* nightmare look in their competitive games for the sake of performance alone.

Me getting 50fps in Cyberpunk on max settings ECSTATIC that its working so well.

PC gamers now will never know the struggle of making sure there are no IRQ conflicts and making sure that your autoexec.bat or config.sys files were correct.

“I’m just happy it works” yeah… speaking of that it seems Windows 11 has inherited 10’s issue where quitting some full screen games gets the operating system stuck on a black screen
Luckily though so far I’ve only had the problem twice on 4K widescreen (and cpu bottlenecked increased draw distance) modded Morrowind and found a partial solution on some 8 year old complaint of the same issue on windows 10: ctrl alt dlt and blindly use arrow keys to select “switch user”

This is quite funny because earlier today I posted my Radeon 7000, and it does “just work”!

It’s not gamers fault that nowadays we are experiencing lack of good programmers that know about optimisation and don’t count on upscaling technologies, like Remnant 2 authors.

You went from 350Mhz Celeron CPUs to 3Ghz+ Pentium in a matter of a decade! The upgrades now are substantial but at least with hardware from a decade ago is not completely written off with the technological advances not being as major 🔥🙌🏽

Higher than 60 fps is unnecessary

I couldn’t play Age of Mythology at release because my Biostar Mother board integrated graphics only had 14MB of vram and I need it 16 , I cry hard that day ; was my first videogame I saved money to buy it by myself. At the end the store changed it for another game Star Wars Battlegrounds , 2D graphics, but i was just happy it worked.
