It just basic game design and storytelling. Anytime someone tells you not to try to save someone, thats your cue to go save them.

*Edit: In other news, I’m apparently an illiterate moron. Carry on.*

Takemura was like much easier to save.

It took me about half an hour to figure out how to save the pilot

Double jumping up and tech wizarding my japanese daddy out of a tight jam was the highlight that whole mission. Felt so good to ice hallways of arasaka goons for my man

It goes even further. In the OG Deus Ex Paul Denton tells you to flee his apartment as UNATCO/MJ12 are outside, but you can stay and fight them off.

Edit: Nevermind, OP did put Paul Denton in the meme and my dumbass missed it. My vision isn’t augmented.

Couldn’t agree more. As a Deus Ex lunatic I just went and did it instantly and I’ve never left Goro to die in any playthrough.

OG Deus Ex was particularly crafty at not telling you that Paul could be saved and if I remember correctly, one had to technically die within the game and then the rest of the sequence unfolded, right?
