Were the pins in the CPU socket that damaged when you sold the desktop, or was that done later…?
It’s possible something got into the PCIe slot and is shorting a couple pins.

Silly question but have you tried a different PSU, it my be the power draw of the GPU is too much for the PSU to handle (I have a similar issue with an AMD system that refuses to boot 50% of the time if I have an AMD 6750xt installed but the 1650 Super works fine, plug a different PSU in and the card works just fine and doesn’t crash the system.

are you sure it’s the motherboard? It’s more likely that PSUs kill components, not the motherboard.

GPUs don’t die so easily even mobo is faulty. But
mobos are easy to destroy, just a slight hit with screwdriver in wrong place and that’s it..been there..
Bad PSU also can do a lot of damage, and doing some wrong connections it can destroy any component, but usually my diagnostic starts with mobo then ram, cpu and lastly gpu. Never buy some weird brand, cheap or used PSU it’s the main rule.

I sold a PC fully working, even gave a demo to the buyer but when he took it home it powered up fine but GPU fans ramped up then PC turned off
Got him to bring it back and we spent over an hour troubleshooting, PC worked fine with no GPU inside using intel IGPU
Thought, oh the GPU must’ve died, plugged a second 3060TI in to test with and PC just wouldn’t boot
So I ended up swapping a shit ton of components over a the hour and eventually just refunded the guy
I get to diagnostic and find out anything you plug into the X16 slot will be killed, but rest of PC works fine
So now this little H310 which has been murdered in anger, soon to be axed, has cost me hundreds in dead GPUs
I assume when the guy took it home he damaged the slot somehow as this PC was working fine 2 months ago and on demo
Anytime I’ve had to fix and sell intel based systems it’s been nothing but major ball ache
