you can search files in any file explorer window, WIN+E . Using windows I always have one of those open, no big deal

yeah I always disable that search bar everytime I do a new windows, it’s useless plus looks bad. I don’t like seeing a big white bar covering half of my Taskbar and ruins my color synergy

Gonne get downvoted to hell but, honestly… I love the search bar I’ve been using it for years now and it’s been amazing.
The only issue I do have is launching a few games, which I’ll run via the desktop icon instead. Which is all I really use the desktop for nowadays since everything I need I launch via that search bar.
When it comes to files I’ll just select the “documents” tab on top of the search bar and I’ll get the result I need 99% of the time.
Other than that anything I want to do, open an app, quickly get a calculation answer or just look up something to get an answer without having to tab-into my browser. Saves me so much time it’s unbelievable how many people overlook this feature.
If you hate the windows one btw there’s also a search bar from PowerToys which you open with Alt+Space works much better than the windows one but from my experience it’s been quite buggy for me which is why I personally avoid it
**Please note: I use an Insider build of W11 so my search bar might be very different from everyone else.**
