It should be heavily discounted. Like considerably cheaper than a 7800x3d. Right now they’re selling it as the “2nd best gaming CPU” when it loses to it’s younger brother.
I doubt the average consumer knows about what CCD’s are. Sure, anyone can do a 2-minute YouTube search and compare gaming benchmarks, but it was still scummy on AMD’s part to even release this abomination of a CPU.

Well problems with only one chiplet having Vcache, this can cause latency problems when the game/software cant pick cores well (for now it seems 100% that issue XD)

The 7800x3D is the largest number of cores on one CCX which also has the 3DVcache.
Which makes the other x3D chips kinda mute

More cores? Non X3D can be chaeaper and have higher clocks
Need 3DVcache for gaming : 7800x3D is the one where it will work best (see “core picker” issues) at the lowest cost

Early launch memes aside, the 7950X3D now outperforms the 7800X3D in gaming with proper CCD scheduling, whether you trust its updated firmware to handle it or manually tweak scheduling through Process Lasso. It won’t make up for the price difference; the 7800X3D will always be the better value unless some unique sales come up for 7950X3Ds.
AMD had to fix their mistake when the 7800X3D outperformed the flagship, which they could actually do. There’s no saving the physical limitation of the 7900X3D aside from closeout pricing.

I have not seen a single reviewer ever recommend a 7900X3D under any condition, even during the launch. Unless they can cut the price so much that it can effectively cost the same as a 7600X3D chip (by disabling the non-Vcache cores), it’s a huge waste of money.

The cpu is nice, when your task scheduling works well (2 6 core ccx, but only vcache on one (as far as i understand it)) so if your task scheduling works well, it should put things, that profit from the vcache on this ccx… well… it doesn’t really work that well… and when the 7950x3d isn’t much more expensive, you have not really a reason to not buy the bigger one… or if you want a cpu for gaming go for the smaller 7800x3d, which is better for gaming anyways, due to having only one ccx…
So yeah, nice on paper…

Since most people on this sub are gamers the 7800x3d is what’s the most talked about as it’s by far the best price to performance for gaming of the x3d chips and you don’t have to worry about core parking with it.
The 7900x3d is a weird middle ground where most people who need the extra cores should probably just spend the little bit more to get a 7950x instead as even without the 3d cache it still has fantastic gaming performance and of course is better for productivity work which is likely more important than getting like 5% more theoretical fps (as you’re usually gpu bottlenecked anyways) and avoids the hassle of core parking.
The 7950x3d is definitely talked about, again it’s just such a high end product that most people on here who are gamers don’t really need to spend the extra money on. And for productivity reliability is a big deal, so again a lot of people just stick with a 7950x or 14900k as they both are plenty fast for any game.
