So I’ve been planning to build a new pc. I calculated how much will it cost me for either am4 and am5 system. With the discount available in my area, it will cost me 160 dollars more if I go with AM5 route with 7700 as my procie. Given also that the am4 has 5700x. Id be using RX 7800XT as my gpu with 1440P 170Hz as my monitor

AM4:
MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk
Ryzen 7 5700x
GSKILL Royal DDR4 3600 CL18 32 GB

AM5:
MSI MAG B650 Max Wifi Tomahawk
Ryzen 7 7700
CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 6000 CL40

BOTH SYSTEM:
RX 7800 XT 16GB
1440P 170Hz
FSP Hydro G Pro 1000w

I don’t know, but that setup is 🔥

Not really the right sub to post this on, I would suggest r/pcmasterrace or r/pcbuilds. On the actual question, 100% am5 is better, if you can afford it I would suggest it, it is not a dead platform and you get ddr5.

Usually skipping generation is a better idea. I wouldn’t do it, probably won’t notice a difference.
