I got this for $50 from a friend (that’s why so cheap). It doesn’t run alot of fps on games like Fortnite that I play so how can I upgrade it . This pc was built from scrap parts so not sure some of the brands and how good they are so don’t know what to switch out to make it better.

Hello Blades_Matt_YT, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

new gpu
Congrats. You paid $50 to get rid of someone else’s e-waste
Buy a new motherboard, CPU, Graphics Card, 16 gb ddr4 3600, psu, hard drive, nvme drive.
So essentially rebuild your entire pc from scratch as this is very old or if you can’t afford to just buy a new graphics card.
I don’t think you can upgrade that much… CPU will be bottleneck for any semi-modern GPU…
But to upgrade CPU you’d have to swap motherboard and ram as well… Since all components are really old I’d recommend swapping PSU as well.
So in the end you’ll end up just with case and maybe storage if it’s not dying at this point.
You have pretty solid base. Just get a cheap b450, b550, a520, x370, x470, x570 motherboard
Then buy a Ryzen 5 3500 on Ali express, it’s the best budget six core.
And 16gb of ddr4 would just be $30 on Amazon
Not sure what graphics card it is but looks like a r9 290. if it is a 290 you can still play games with it.
A good upgrade for the graphics card would be a rx 580, even if it’s on legacy drivers they are really mature and is a solid card. You can either get any name brand rx 580 or get a “new” one from AliExpress which performs like a rx 570 8gb which is still pretty good value.
If you have a little bit higher budget a rx 5700 would be great for only $150.
I recently got a asus strix Vega 64 for $80 which performs like a gtx 1080 but pulls more power.
But to be honest low end hardware like that you can still play modern games, just be lucky that it at least came with an ssd. I would just take everything apart and clean it but that’s just me
For the cpu cooler, I’m guessing you don’t have mounting for am4, on Amazon you can get a amd stock cooler for $9
Probably ask for your money back, get another $950 and then report back
It was a nice computer… in 2009
Ummmm, like play old stuff on it? [shrug]
