Both Johnny and Kerry are listed as the vocalists for Samurai, so they’re both singing. Johnny was ‘the face’ of the band, but I believe Kerry was more of the ‘soul’ of the band, having to probably fill in for Johnny on many occasions because the man was too busy getting high/drunk somewhere and fucking some groupie.

There was rumors of a voice actor for Johnny Silverhand before Keanu Reeves showed up. I have a feeling most of the songs were recorded early on in the development process and the original Johnny sounded very similar. As Keanu took over the role, there was no time or real reason to re-record those songs so now theres just a distinct difference in the voice tone.

From what I know, Black Dog and Never Fade Away are Silverhand solo recordings, which were later released under Samurai’s name.
My guess is Johnny is the primary vocalist. Black Dog and Never Fade Away were written and sung PURELY by Johnny. Never Fade Away was actually originally released under his name, as part of his album titled ‘A Cool Metal Fire,’ while Black Dog was written and recorded by him shortly before storming Arasaka Tower in ‘23. He never got the chance to release it, but recordings were later found by a crew of edgerunners in the 2030s.
The Ballad of Buck Ravers feels very much like Silverhand’s work, since it’s considered by many to be Samurai’s most aggressive song.
Chippin’ In was written in 2013, before Johnny’s first assault on Arasaka Tower (the flashback mission with the Voodoo boys) to rescue Alt Cunningham. Chippin’ In was also part of A Cool Metal Fire, similar to Never Fade Away. The studio version you hear in Morro Rock Radio has Johnny on vocals, but the version you hear during the interlude (before Johnny walks on stage) is Kerry’s cover, with him on vocals.
A Like Supreme and Archangel’s vocalist is unclear, but again, it’s probably Johnny’s vocals.
In a certain side quest, Johnny and Kerry look back on the past, and there’s a TV showing footage of a Samurai concert. I don’t exactly remember who was holding the mic tho.
tl;dr: Most of the vocals you hear are probably Johnny’s vocals.

Like actually see them around like the Aldecaldo’s and tigers and what not chillin on street corners and fighting rival gangs for turf, it would have been cool.
Currently I am a one member gang.
