Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4070 vs 3080 12gb – Port Royal

  1. I’m having better luck overclocking 40 series than I did 30 series. Yes, I “downgraded” my GPU but my PC is no longer a space heater which is all I ever wanted. Needless to say I understimated how much heat a 360w GPU would chuck. I sold it 2 weeks before the 4070 dropped for $850 and bought my 4070 for $650, not bad considering I only paid $730 for it originally from Newegg in July 2022. I have actually noticed an increase in performance in the games I play, likely because I game at 1440p and I am benefiting more from the faster clock speed of the 4070 vs the higher memory bandwidth of the 3080 12gb. The voltage slider in Afterburner doesn’t do much but it actually does something, adding a single voltage step from 1.1v to 1.12v when set to 100%. This allowed me to increase my core clock by an additonal 5mhz and it now boosts to 3075mhz vs 3045mhz. So 30mhz is what the voltage slider gave me in the end lol. It needs more voltage to go any higher, it’s only pulling around 238w and has a 320w limit. I hope to come across a modded vBios someday.
