Battling high hotspot issues even with different coolers and liquid coolers on this gigabyte RX5700XT.
Noticed the die has uneven light reflections unlike any of my Nvidia cards.
Is this common for rdna1 or is this a potential manufacturing imperfection?
Could potentially try lightly lapping the surface? i wanna overclock way higher on this thing but hotspot is 30 to 40c higher than core at some point.

i assume you already tried repasting it? if that didnt work then yeah you might wanna try to lap it

try tpm 7950 i had 30C delta in my 6700xt using tpm got it down to 16/20, not perfect but it really made a diffrerence

Dont lap it,m before knowing how much protection is on it because i guess its not much.
Never seen something like that, but i recommend a less liquid thermal paste, TG Kryonaut worked charms here where MX4 failed hard.

Use PTM7950. Paste pumps out fast with bare dies.
Nvidia 30×0 are well known for this.
