More people are playing Skyrim and Fallout 4 than Starfield

People are weirdly obsessed with player counts, especially on single player games (Where the tendency is to finish the game and move on)

Skyrim and Fallout 4 have an extensive modding scene, lower hardware demands and are far cheaper it isn’t that surprisingly they have more steam players

Not defending Starfield, I tried it and dropped it because I found it boring, I just find these comparisons completely pointless

  2. GrandElemental

Fallout 76 surprises me the most. Did it get fixed after the disastrous launch is there some other reason why people are still that actively playing it?

  3. peacedetski

I don’t even know why people were so excited for Starfield. Sure it’s a new IP from a well-regarded company, but none of the promos showed anything beyond “generic space game with a generic space aesthetic”.

  4. SunkenTemple

They are older games… so… yes. More people have purchased those games.

  5. Breakingerr

    Not counting Game Pass again

Not accounting numbers of mods and DLCs in both games

I don’t understand the purpose of those posts. Until mod kits drops, you should treat Starfield as any other single-player game – beat it and done with it.

  6. urproblystupid

Starfield SUCKS nobody wanted Skyrim in space and they didn’t even make Skyrim in space it’s like oblivion in space but even worse than oblivion

  7. LuisdaJonstone

I’m sure that Game Pass will increase so much that value

  8. EdwardFFS

Starfield requires a bit more hardware, and although hardware is more expensive, people aren’t any richer :/

  9. Professional-Bed-486

I was expecting a sort of an improved Mass Effect.

  10. NicParodies

More people are playing geometry dash than all of them

  11. MisterShinkawa

Kinda crazy that if you *combine* Starfield and Fallout 76… that’s only about 3700 people more than Skyrim. Is the other version of Skyrim still listed separately? If so, the gap might be even smaller than that…

  12. JAEMzWOLF

Gee it almost like some of those games have thousands and thousand of mods – but hey, we really need our “SF Bad” post for the hour, right?

also, thats way higher than the haters were claiming.

  13. iNfANTcOMA

Another one of these posts. Nearly everyone was or still is playing on Gamepass. These posts are dumb

  14. bibomania

Makes sense. The game is a snorefest. Only great bits were the crimson fleet and ruijin side quests.

  15. PotatoBit

Its like No mans sky but with cyberpunk graphics

  16. Battlefire

You know how you know Starfield is successful? When the game is living rent free in people’s head.

  17. ChaoticKiwiNZ

I’m as disappointed about Starfield as the next guy but the steam numbers don’t tell the whole story with Starfield. Starfield is also on gamespass and a whole lot of people will be playing it through that.

I recon once mods start to take off next year for starfield and thr game has been through a few sales Starfields numbers will look abit better than they do now (from my understanding you can’t mod the gamespass verson of the game?).

Personally I’m going to get Starfield at some point next year, I’m just waiting to see what sort of patches are planned and waiting for a good sale.

  18. RedEclipse47

TBH both Skyrim and Fallout 4 also have a near limitless amount of mods which keeps players playing. Starfield has yet to get full mod support with the CreationKit comming out somewhere next year.

  19. Question is why? People bitched about starfield being dated and still play a dated for it’s time game TODAY and act like it’s amazing.

  20. OstensibleBS

Most of us are waiting for the damn DLC and modding tools

  21. People want adventure and exploration from an open world game. Not weird faces, no scenery and no sights to see. Just what I get from it. Probably a decent game.

  22. Guessididntmakeit

Probably because those games have been finished by modders at this point.

    Starfield is still “in development”.

  23. ilovecrimsonruze

Starfield is the gaming equivalent of a bowl of water

  24. AwsomEmils

Beside all other points, f4 and skyrin are wqy fucking cheaper

  25. lolomawisoft

Makes sense even Bethesda recommends you play Skyrim if you are bored of starfield

  26. Never thought I would see myself here. I’m one of the guys playing fallout 4. I’ve just finished a hardcore playthrough as the railroad and I’m trying to collect all the good guns. Shits hard I had to kill 7 death claws in one area and let a behemoth kill one. So many glowing and savage death claws after level 60.

  27. Master-Cranberry5934

Makes me laugh that people call fall out 4 terrible. You’re either a fallout elitist or just don’t like Bethesda games then because it’s a great game and still has so many players.

  28. DarthRiznat

Pretty soon it’s gonna fall below Fallout 76 too

  29. Daemoni73

    On steam.

You forgot to add that tiny bit of information. Starfield is (or atleast was the last time i looked) on gamepass. I would imagine a huge chunk of players are playing it there.

But yea, well deserved placing on that steam list. The game is utter and total garbage.

After playing the game for an hour i knew that it was a really sucked. But i forced myself to play it for 50’ish hours to see if got better. It didn’t. I’m so glad i bought it from cdkey stores for 45e, instead of playing 70e.

Starfield is that next gen game that plays like fallout 3 but with more loading screens and an extremely souless, uninteresting story?

Oh wait I think the combat was also souless yeah? No, I’m getting it wrong, it’s not just the combat that’s souless, it’s the exploration of the same 5 to 6 places over and over again, filled with the same braindead enemies, that grinds you down real quick. Or maybe I’m remembering the useless walking around absolutely barren spaces for 5 min towards a point on your UI? Or the fun objectives of “scan 5 rocks”?

Don’t worry guys, it’s a next gen experience though. What’s that, it uses the same fucking engine as games old enough to drive, yet it’s so poorly optimized modern ass PCs can barley run it in a rx6650xt? Nah bro it’s next gen, just buy a 4090 lmao.

I got the game for free on gamepass and I still feel scammed lol

  31. m0rl0ck1996

Skyrim is a great game. I wish Bethesda would quit fucking with it.

  32. I had an ok time with it but it’s just boring, and feels empty. And idc if space is suppose to be empty. It’s just not fun

  33. ThatboyDenzal

Fallout 76 is actually a lot better than starfield it’s insane
