You’re young. Our first PC had a 225 Megabyte WD Caviar. Could’ve been 256 MB, it’s been a while.
Our first HD was in a Mac II and was 39 MB. Somehow that was enough.

Now M.2 is the size of a thumb, and 2mm thick
My first HDD was 40 MB.
My mind was blown when I upgraded to a 130 MB HDD.
I remember when I upgraded the family PC to a 8GB hard drive. No way we will ever use up such a massive amount of space
Literally ordered a sata usb connector with PD to use this HDD i still use as my back up drive

I was going through my NewEgg order history and found a 200GB 4200RPM HDD I bought back in 2007. I paid $150 for it.
I recently bought an 18TB 7200RPM HDD for $170.
I just retired my Samsung 2tb HDD after many years of faithful service 🥲
I remember when I bought it many years ago it was amazing to have so much storage!

I’ve been building computers since the early 90’s. The biggest jump and shock I can remember was in the early 2000’s when we went to comp USA and picked up a 40gb hard drive for about 400 dollars…

I remember when I could first purchase a 20 meg hard drive, a few years after the market was adopting 40 and 80 meg MFM drives I could finally afford the 20 meg.
It was magical.
My earliest memory about well.. memory are diskette and Playstation 1 memory card, for me when I hold 1 TB of sdcard that’s mind blowing.
It still is quite a lot of storage. Not for your unpolished AAA game with huge textures. But just think about the data files/images etc. I’m just amazed at how affordable it has become.
Wow, you might not even need to use your Zip Drive anymore, lol.
The first PC I bought myself came with a 2.1 GB Hard Drive, I think I upgraded to 60 GB a year or so later. 🙂
lol. I know that feeling. I have a 1TB flash drive plugged in my server as a local pictures backup. The server, 60 Tb. 16 year old me would have never believed it. Started with a 800mb drive in 1997.

Are you talking about that specific HDD or just the capacity? Because 2015 isn’t that long ago and it wasn’t that amazing at the time.

I bought a 850 MB Conner mechanism for my Amiga 1200, bodged it in with a home-built 44-pin to 40-pin and power injector, and had more space than I would EVER need.
My first PC had a 2 GB Seagate SCSI drive which was ungodly slow, then added a 4.3 GB Fujitsu, which was also slow, then an 8 GB Quantum Bigfoot which was… there’s a theme here.
A year later, the roaringly fast Maxtor D740x 80 GB (which was a Quantum Fireball, but Maxtor had bought Quantum) which didn’t have a fluid bearing, so it was very whiny. Everyone else said “You should have got an IBM for that money” then a few months later all their IBMs started failing 😀
2000GB is a decent size even today
yeah… smaller drives are still sold dude. that’s not that old. if you want old, try stuff from before SATA was a thing.
