Hello everyone, I’m new to overclocking, I’ve seen some videos here and there but I’m really confused when I get to actually change settings in BIOS.

The system in question is:

CPU: i7-9700K (I know I f’ed up with this purchase btw)

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E (this one as well)

GPU: Asus ROG Strix 3090 OC

RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) 3200Mhz CL16 Trident-Z royal

Cooler: Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 4

XMP II enabled

So, a little “issue” I have which I have no idea why it happens since I don’t have the exprerience, is that the CPU runs at 4.9Ghz when absolutely nothing is running but when I open a program or a game or anything else, it clocks down to 4.6Ghz for some reason as you can see in \[this screenshot\]([https://imgur.com/a/gpOmdqA](https://imgur.com/a/gpOmdqA)).

The temps have never exceeded 75°C on both CPU and GPU even on full load for hours and hours of gaming so I guess there is room for improvement..? My main concern here is overclocking the CPU because obviously it turned out to be a terrible purchase and it’s already showing it’s age.

That’s about it. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
