Dont mean to be a stickler but 2077 related posts are forbidden (you mentioned Arasaka)
There is nothing inherently cyberpunk about this.

I mean, there’s nothing inherently Cyberpunk about this, aside from one corporation being bought by another. But that isn’t Cyberpunk, as Cyberpunk features specifically Corporate-Authoritarianism.
It would be Cyberpunk if U.S Steel got forcibly taken over by a Japanese Corp, due to having all of their executive board members assassinated. This? This is just normal operations.

A company being bought by another company isn’t Cyberpunk.

Arasaka is starting to take over. Before we know it, Johnny is gonna destroy their first HQ in the US & V will most likely work in counter intel for Arasaka 🤣

Nah it’s not a stretch. The genre was formulated during the era of anxiety over Japanese economic dominance and overtaking the US.
But Arasaka already exists and it’s Mitsubishi. They got almost the same origin story. Just the fictional one is much larger than the real one

Is it going to be called Japan Steel?

Well, better than the orange man selling our largest oil refinery to the ME.
I remember growing up with my Dad having all these books about the rise of the Yuan and Japan, it’s interesting how geopolitics and time shapes our views
