Recently flipped my last 5700x + 4070 build and got a 12600KF + (XFX Speedtser) 6800xt + 32gb DDR5 RAM as well as a new case. But my performance is way below expected, I’m getting 30-50 fps in games where I used to be at 60-90, specifically RDR2 and BG3, 1440p 165Hz display.I’m fairly familiar with hardware but have never touched overclocking until now.

Ran Timespy- I’m in the bottom 2% for builds with my configuration. My ram is a bit slow (5200Mhz cl40) but that shouldn’t cause such a drastic change in my performance metrics, I’ve since activated XMP since running timespy but it hasn’t made a difference.

I already basically tried every other troubleshooting technique, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, trying different driver versions, turning off all AMD features, turning on performance mode, clearing CMOS, updating bios, I could go on, nothing’s worked. Temps and usage are normal. But I’ve seen a few people say that changing around their frequencies helped solve similar issues with this GPU.

Really I’m asking if it’s possible that OC can help solve my performance issues, or at least if people more familiar with timespy can help me figure out what’s holding down my system, I’m still in the return window, so no big deal if not, I’m really just wanting to avoid the hassle. TIA!

**UPDATE: Ended up fixing this through a mix of reseating the GPU, reinstalling windows + drivers, and messing with my minimum frequencies, combination of all 3 I think helped get my performance to normal!**

You’ve basically got a like for like system that you already had, I got the same CPU score with my 5800x which is basically the same chip as a 5700x.

Anyway, your problem is the graphics card, you should be able to get above 20000 on the graphics score fairly easily, the trick is to increase the power limit, lower the voltage and clock it higher (and also clock the vram higher, to do this goto the performance tab in the adrenaline software, then the tuning tab.

For example my 6800xt has a voltage of 1010mv, my min frequency is 2300mhz and max frequency is 2400mhz ( you need to put them at 100mhz of each other to keep the clock high) my vram is at 2140 and my power limit is at +9%.

Start off with just the min and max frequencies to the same as mine and also the power limit (this should greatly improve things), then test some games. Then reduce the voltage gradually and test whist gaming in small increments until it’s unstable, then the same with the vram, you might want to go to higher frequencies than what I have set but you might not be able to undervolt as much.

Also get HWinfo to keep an eye on temps of both the GPU and GPU hotspot.

Also What PSU have you got?

14k for graphics is way below what it should be. Should be 18k or so. Seem like it’s pretty warm too, check the hot spot temps.

  3. Disabling VBS and HVCI should improve the graphics score and also CPU score.

Also check CPU power limits & temperatures, the 12600K might be power throttling and/or thermal throttling.

did you uninstall all video drivers, then run DDU, then install the latest radeon drivers?

Your CPU is held back by your ram, granted I don’t know much about Intel, and your GPU is certainly not at peak, it’s gonna be thermal throttling for sure is the board temp is 77.
More aggressive fan curve max out power limits see what happens. Then fine tune what your max memory and core freq is and then try to bring down voltage as low as it’ll go while stable
