I didn’t realise they were this large, banana for scale. I have 1cm room room to spare in a Corsair 4000D

I got something you can scale off a banana…hahaha

  2. AussieSkull1

Americans will use anything but the metric system

I have 4000D as well and hesitant to get a 4090 because of this reason. Any issues you encountered so far?

  4. I was surprised too when i got my 4080. I had to remove stuff from inside my full tower case to make it fit. Insane but satisfied.

    I have a torrent compact and I can’t fit most AIb 4080s

  6. PowerZox

I had to remove the middle fan in my case to fit my GPU

There’s always money in the banana stand

Are you telling me you don’t have the physical dimensions of at least 4-5 different cards written down somewhere?

Ok I keep seeing this again and again, and I have to ask the question.

I assumed that the banana for scale is just like some sort of weird meme. Because, as far as household objects for scaling the size of anything, a banana probably Is one of the worst. With the potential size difference, you might as well just scale it off of your shoe or put your hand next to it.

Do people just not have rulers or anything with an actual measurement on it anymore In their house?

I’m not saying any of this and trying to Insult anyone. But I mean seriously, is this banana thing just a meme that people started taking seriously?

That’s a very rounded card if I say so myself.

You need to put something next to Banana for scale, because now I don’t know how big it is…

On serious note – modern GPUs are ridiculous and stupid. Idiotic!

GPUs that are 300W+ should NEVER be air cooled, because the only way to do it is to make these ridiculous monstrosities. Nowadays instead of fitting GPU into your motherboard, you simply fit your entire computer onto the GPU. Anything above 2 slots should not exist.

For this reason I got Strix 6900XT OC LC, it is I guess technically 2.5 slot, but it is compact card and oh booooi it is cool!30C idle all year long, 45C running most of the time and barely even spins the fans and probably highest temp I have ever seen was 52C. That is GPU well made and sensible. Anything above 300W TDP should by default come with water block, or with option to buy “naked” unit for say $150 less, so that one can fit water block of their choice.

That said 4000D is tiny case ( mean it is replacement for 450D, so yeah)… I have moved from 750D and to be honest I don’t like it. I like overall looks and I like how it looks on the desk, but inside it looks very very crowded, certainly more than I would like to. It is cool that it allows to mount GPU vertically, but in my case GPU just cover almost entire motherboard and because in my built the MB is also matching design Asus Strix X570 Gaming E, it just doesn’t look right.

Yep I almost regretted not confirming max GPU size on my PureBase 500, had just about a centimeter to spare with my 7900XTX Merc

Video cards are getting exhaustingly huge nowadays.

If it keeps up there’s going to need to be a new standardised mounting bracket because the current ones are barely acceptable for todays biggest cards with their 2 fork teeth and a couple of screws.

  14. Fatefire

The 4090 is much like me. I get in where I fit in!

  15. Nyktastik

It’s almost as if you could have looked up the case dimensions and the card measurements before you bought it.

  16. firestar268

Hate that design. Why is it so round.

    But that’s just me

  17. CanIEatAPC

Amd then if you remove the coolers to water cool, it becomes so tiny!

  18. gogul1980

Yep had to remove a fan in my nzxt case to fit this. Upgraded my case soon after

  19. NikomanIsMe

I was flabberghasted by the size of a dual fan 4070 they are crazy big
