Is nobody going to tell you to get it off the carpet? Forget the whole airflow thing, but your PSU is likely intaking air at the bottom of your tower. You’ll want less debris from the carpet getting sucked up in there. Do you have anything solid you could put under it? Books? Something?

OP, get a new cooler if you can. The CPU can get pretty toasty. I recommend a 240mm AIO.

It’s NOT the end of the world like some guys are making it seem like having your system on the carpet. I’ve had mine since I built it (6 yrs ago) on carpet and it works flawlessly. Although the PSU does has a dust filter beneath it to filter anything.

I got a build with that same processor and have a Noctua NH-D15s on it, even with that beast temps are always a bit high despite a beefy top tier air cooler.

Meanwhile my mom got roped into paying $450 for a 4th Gen i7, a GTX 1050, 16gb DDR3 ram and a shitty mobo with a USB wifi stick for my nephew. I told her I thought he was too young to get one, but if she absolutely wanted to get him one, she should ask me for help finding it.
She went behind my back and picked one bc of the cool” lights”. At least it came with a 75hz monitor, I guess. Worst of all is, that it was originally advertised as a GTX 1660 6GB GPU and for $400, and yet he somehow still talked her into paying $50 more for a way worse gpu by saying there was some sort of upgrade in it that my mom can’t remember what was, since she knows nothing about PCs… Have tried calling the guy 3 times now, to get an explanation for why the price increased for seemingly worse parts, but he keeps saying he’s busy and can’t talk rn. It was bought in advance as a birthday gift, so it’s unfortunately way too late to return the PC…
