It boots into the UEFN BIOS, which is set to have the ASUS disc drive as the primary boot item. I don’t think there’s a hard drive in it, but in the UEFN BIOS I can tell that it has 16gb of ram and an intel core i7.
I’m not super familiar with PC, but I know it’s superior and would love to learn more! I’m hoping that there’s something here worth turning into my personal PC, or at least something here that was worth my 5$. 🤣

It’s an old X99 platform which is getting into “retirement home” stage and might not be super-valuable for a computer today.

That case is an older Cooler Master Cosmos case which is worth well over $5 empty. A quick eBay shows a few hundred to $700 asking for the case empty. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of USB-C headers up front but is still quite valuable for its capacity and front IO.

If anything, I’d say gut the inside, check the power supply rating (wattage) and maybe build a new system inside of it or sell it if you want to convert your $5 into something more.

First it’s a classic Cooler Master Cosmos case. Very high quality and still worth some money. You also got a pretty nice Noctua cooler, albeit not their best one
Second it’s an old high-end Intel X99 system, though we don’t know exactly what CPU is in there but it’s roughly 10 years old by now (maybe an i7 5820K-5960X, say 6-8 cores). Graphics card is unknown but also an old one, mid-range from the looks of it, like a Geforce 560-660 something. Overall it’s still a decent system, but will struggle with modern games or applications
I’d take it just for the case.

That Cooler Master Cosmos case is worth A LOT since it it one of those cases that are considered “collectables”. Not many were made, iconic design and the like. The X99 and 16GB of ram and the rando I7 and the gpu isn’t that good now but you can still cobble up something alright from it.

HEDT Haswell/Broadwell i7 is pretty cool imo and 16gbs of DDR4 are quite the find for a 10yo build. Video card looks simple but an upgrade to that would get you mostly up and running
part it or have someone part it. it seems a bit too old to dump money into for a $5 project. when things get old its harder to find replacement parts there might be people out there that have to overpay for something from this computer.
can put the money towards a better new computer easily if thats a goal.
Looks like you found a nice file server. Probably upgrade the PS and put some form of Linux on it.

My main PC runs on a X99 platform so I can tell you that you can easily source a 14 or even more cores cpu for 20 bucks on AliExpress. I use a 14 core Xeon 2697v3 with turboboost unlocked.

I love this case. I have one of my own. I use it as a NAS because of all of the 3.5 inch drive bays. Awesome find! I had to spend $100 to get mine empty. Very lucky indeed. Congrats!
Gimme the case and the noctua cooler
Man, all that room for HDDs and Bluray/DVD drives. I’d probably replace the CMOS battery (button battery on the motherboard) if it’s not starting. Also, check to see if the power block where the plug connects is switched to 1 and not 0.
Would be really good as media PC in your lounge room etc.
Could probably be OK for gaming if you replaced the GPU, or if you only want to play old games.
If you plan on using this I would move the RAM around. Currently there are 4 sticks, all on the left side of the cooler. There are 4 empty slots on the right side of the cooler. On this platform you want to evenly distribute the sticks among these 8 slots for optimal performance, on this particular motherboard you should use the gray colored slots. You will end up with two on either side of the cooler when you’re done.

It’s old but it’s $5 so…
For $5? You made out like a bandit. PSU alone is worth at least $50 even if used, case is a classic one worth a bit to a collector, and that Noctua cooler, assuming it works, costs over $80 brand new.
The computer itself is an Intel X99-based system from the 5th Generation, so mid-2014 or so, and you have what I presume are eight early DDR-4 RAM sticks alongside that i7 CPU you referenced.
It won’t be much good for Windows 11 due to the lack of a TPE module, but it can still be excellent as a Windows 10 machine doing light gaming and general tasks.
The GPU looks extremely basic though. Given the blue PCB, exposed copper heatpipes, single eight-pin PCIE power connector, a lack of a SLI notch, and the Windforce logo you can barely make out, that is probably a Gigabyte GTX 660. Very outdated these days, still fine as a display adapter or for retro gaming, but not valuable in any sense.
Certainly very worth the $5 🙂
