Playing it on my base PS4 for the very first time was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in gaming, but I knew the potential was there. After playing it on PS5 and PC, it’s one of the goats.

Cyberpunk was a mess at launch and it is delusional and unproductive to pretend otherwise. It was playable on the new consoles and PC but even then it was riddled with bugs and glitches and had a lot of content cut or scaled back from what was promised.
They’ve made up for that in spades but we shouldn’t just pretend it didn’t happen.
The game was so bad it had to be pulled from the PlayStation store. Even CDPR will admit it had a troubled launch, why can’t you?

Elden Ring wasn’t as good as the previous from software games.
Krieg_Imperator
Resident Evil 6 was an enjoyable game.
DrunkenRenard
Fable 1 was the worst

I must be the only person on earth who played Cyberpunk on ps4 and had minimal bugs. I turned down the graphics slightly, but never had anything game breaking. From my perspective it needed work but had the bones of a fantastic game.

Doom 3 was way better than Quake 4 and is the best of the new Dooms to date. There.
Lalo2k7
Instead of hate bandwagoning I actually played the game for myself at launch and put 90 hours into it and it was amazing.
xX_Dokkaebi_Xx
Played on PC. Had minimal bugs, I thought the game was pretty good at the time. Put in 90 hours in my first playthrough.
azorius_mage
Loved it then and still love it now

Pokemon legends arceus was a great game and the overhaul pokemon needed.

I played for 80 hours in the first two weeks and only had my game break once. The eye for that one Regina gig didn’t spawn in, so I had to reload. I don’t doubt it was awful on 360/PS4 but PC felt fine to me.

500+ hrs without HUD since the launch and still kicking it…
Never had an issue on PC (High-end specs) except the usual bugs.
Everyone I’ve know with both consoles had another experience until the Update.
I can’t wait for the new patch. This game has become more than just simple software and it’s here to stay.
Thanks CDPR and all the good people behind this monster. It speaks for itself.

Forza Motorsport (newest) is not as big filled mess as people make it seem. Yes.
bombardierul11
I mean I didn’t defend it, only the core game because that is still unchanged to this day (gameplay loop, quests and gigs) because I knew that most people will experience a lot of problems. I always played both on PS5 and on PC and on PS5 it was way too stuttery while on PC you needed a 3000$ build to run it without bugs/glitches actually becoming an annoyance or even worse, breaking your entire game and bricking your save.
On good hardware (I had a 9900K and a 3090 at launch), the game barely had any issues besides traffic being insanely dumb (if you didn’t have too much mitigation the combat ai was fine). The only time I actually had to put down the game because of problems was around 1.3. For some reason between 1.2 and 1.32 every update kept introducing weird bugs for me that would appear all over my screen and keep me from playing even with all mods removed all while making the game look worse.

Another day, another post full of people pretending this game wasn’t an absolute pile of shit on launch. Yes it was, cope.
ShanxUisce
Got it midnight release, played for days. I still play it and love the game. Even have my first character still. 😁

I got it on PS4 on launch day. Never have I wanted to love a game so much but it simply didn’t work. I got my refund and moved on with my life.
I now have a custom built PC with a 7900XTX. I got Cyberpunk on discount. Being away for so long, and playing at the highest settings bar ray tracing, has made me appreciate how enjoyable the game is. Coming off the back of Starfield, it’s night and fucking day.

It was the mmo rpg “oh you can’t use this gun that is level higher than you despite the fact you have a copy of the same gun 2 levels under, and also you have to spend points to even unlock basic features and enemies are bullet sponges” I’m glad they got rid of most of that
MaliceRising
I played it on Stadia when it first came out. Loved every second, no bugs, no hassle. I played it for a week straight till I beat it the first time.
THEdoomslayer94
Same, it had issues FOR SURE but I fucking loved cyberpunk from day 1 at midnight when I squeezed in a couple hours before bed

I enjoyed it for a bit but the bugs killed it for me

It’s ok to acknowledge that it wasn’t great on release. We can be happy now that after years, CD Projekt stepped up and finished the game.
patmichael1229
I loved it and thought it was a great game even on launch. Yes, I agree it may be would have benefitted from another year or two in development.
But to say it was a *bad* game just never sat well with me.
I also totally understand last gen players who were legitimately frustrated, since those versions seemed the most genuinely broken.
I think if anything it was a victim of its own hype. But to say it’s bad is just false.

CDPR themselves disagree with you.
Massive-Tower-7731
Same. Even at launch it was already one of my favorite games ever.

It’s fanboyism like this that leads companies to think they can get away with this stuff in the first place.

Same. I didnt have any bugs really, so I just enjoyed the game throughout. Felt empty inside when I finished it, and Ive never felt something like that from a video game before.
Ashbtw19937
Started playing it the night it dropped, completed it exactly a week later. Was then and still remains my favorite experience in a video game ever, and probably for fiction in general. Haters can hate all they want, doesn’t change how absolutely amazing my experience was.
(And yes, for the record, I followed all the pre-launch material from about 2016 onwards. I was one of the people who watched other people’s analyses of every trailer and Night City Wire and whatever else because I wanted to know everything I could about the game. Yes, CDPR broke a lot of promises. No, I didn’t have a worse time because of it.)
MrBigStonks
Pc maybe but on console it was a shit show.
Juken-
People say it was a mess at launch, and sure, the bugs were undeniable…
But my immersion was not affected. I wasn’t just In from day one, i was In In. Bugs will never be the reason i dislike a game. Hows the story, what was the intention? Hows the world building, how’s the lore, how are the rpg elements? Hows the voice work, the writing? The sound design?
