This describes Cold War Zombies perfectly.

I think the majority of people just repeat what everyone else says around them

  2. Toxicdeath88

I thought Cold War was pretty good when it came out and got even better as they released more maps/perks/weapons. Plus, all the different modes were fun as well.

  3. ojman654

Not really. I think the general consensus on Cold War even when it launched was that it was good. If anything this perfectly describes BO4.

  4. Honestly, as long as it’s not vanguard zombies it gets a pass from me. I was hesitant about zombies this year but I love it

  5. Groundbreaking_Arm77

I love Cold War purely because of how powerful it made you feel. While I do love the gradual power gain you get in the older games, there is something cathartic about just going to town on Zombies and Abominations at the Helipad using the Chrysalax.

  6. Lunar_Worshipper

There’s many games this doesn’t apply but only reason this even “happens” is because the vocal majority changes. Nothing more.

  7. Fyru_Hawk

I actually think Cold War got worse as it went on. Like it started out decent, but never really got much better than “just alright” and took a big dip at the end.

  8. Carbonozone

Never listen to cod youtubers. They literally make money on outrage and “worst cod ever because xyz” content because it gets clicks. Make your own opinions. Cold War zombies slapped since the very beginning

  9. TaterTotPotShot

It’s more often than not just a colossal number of people hating on it because everyone else is hating on it and that immensely outshines the positive voice of people who actually like that thing. Then years later that negative crowd is all but disappeared and there’s just the people who like it and then that snowballs into being the “general consensus”. Examples include Fallout NV, COD IW, and honestly tons of COD games.

  10. ThePopcornDude

I don’t get it, didn’t people like Cold War? That game actually revived the community after BO4 was a shit show

  11. I_Put_Soap_Up_My_Ass

This is exactly what happened to b03. I remember when shadows first came out & people were shitting on the game. Same thing happened with b04.

  12. ThisVelvetGlove16

Is that what even happened? Cold War was somewhat positively received, with the biggest criticism was the big periods of time between the original release and the first DLC< and then the first DLC to the 2nd. There just wasnt enough content unless you had a playstation and got Onslaught.

The people thought the game was fun, just not a continuation of WAW-BO3 zombies and also lacked content (although now it has what I would consider a lot of content now that it is all out.)

  13. ExpectingThePrestige

Some mechanics were not liked and the ee were a bit bland but YouTubers and players alike loved the game. …soo many high round strat games and play …I didn’t know cold war was hated

  14. MonsterHunter6353

Cold war was pretty positive for most of its lifecycle (aside from the whole bo3 vs Cold war thing).

This applies to bo4 much better

  15. Shock_the_Core

That’s not even true since many people like Cold War Zombies from the start

  16. Darkwing_Dork

if by perfectly you mean not at all then sure

  17. Expert_Reward_720

What the fuck is up with these “The game was originally panned but now everyone likes it! Curious! ☝️🤓”

Opinions change over time, it’s extremely common.

  18. Solaris601

    It’s been like this since BO2. BO3 & BO4 especially.

  19. UnofficialMipha

I loved most of Cold War from the start to the end. Only time I was a hater was when they were focusing so much on outbreak

  20. Bruninfa

No one thinks it is a hidden gem. It has the same perception as it always had, great mechanics and movement, shitty uninspired maps and garbage story. Brought some of the worst things to zombies (operators for example, low difficulty and hand-holding). And finally signaled the shift to not give a fuck about zombies players (or “hardcore” fans) and a focus on casual/warzone players.

Edit: When I say no one thinks its a hidden gem, I mean people that liked it or disliked it or in between have had the same perception since it launched.

  21. Key_Rent_3862

Loved Cold War for the most part just thought the maps were kinda lazy

  22. FriedCammalleri23

Cold War was and still is the best modern CoD game imo. Modern being MW19 and onwards.

  23. Wooden_Gas1064

I think that it was still well received but the main issue was that the wait between round based maps was too long and we only ended up with 4 of them.

  24. CTB_Of_FASTT

I enjoyed CW from the jump. It felt like a good step in the right direction from a gameplay perspective. took away gums/elixirs and implemented some of those things into regular gameplay. Field upgrades were a nice step from the BO4 ones which were mainly offensive, though they are a little busted. (Fully upgraded aether shroud comes to mind) But the biggest change they made was the weapon rarity system. Often times in old round based zombies games, I’d get my perks and my guns packed by like round 15 and from there, there wasn’t really any more progression other than pushing for high rounds. With CW I find myself getting to about round 30 before I have all 10 perks and my gun Gold/PAP3, which I enjoyed. Gave me something to keep me occupied for longer, though I can understand people having gripes with it. Other than that, I enjoyed some of the maps, while some were lackluster to say the least, and Outbreak was a solid first attempt at open world zombies. The easter eggs were cool, and I liked the Dark Aether story line, and am genuinely excited to see where it goes in the future. All in all, I enjoyed it from the start and still play it here and there, and I truly believe it caught more shit than it deserved. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was good.

  25. DerBernd123

Cold war zombies was beloved and got maaany new people to play zombies mode. It only got hate for how long it took to get a new roundbased zombies map

  26. barrack_osama_0

Nah, I loved Cold War since it came out. Don’t regret the hundreds of hours I put into it

  27. Normbot13

lmfao this is such a lie. Cold War zombies was *always* highly praised on this subreddit. unfortunately for them it’s always been bad.

  28. Pricerocks

Cold War was easily the most liked mode on this subreddit since BO3 during its time. No game is immune to criticism but I know it was viewed mostly favorably

  29. FrogSalmonCouch

I don’t think this is true. I think what really happens is on launch there’s a group of people that like it and a group that doesn’t. The group that hates it is very vocal but over time they can’t just keep saying the same complaints over and over. Eventually the people that hate it stop playing and move on, while the people that actually liked it continue to support it and talk about it, they just aren’t overshadowed by the vocal haters anymore

  30. GeerJonezzz

Cold War from the start definitely had waaaaay more praise than Bo4, vanguard or MWIII had during their lifecycle.

The hate-love nostalgia loop is inevitable for any CoD so of course people will hate it Day 1 then turnaround on Day 1,000 but it certainly was not as blatant for CW zombies as it has been for other ones.

  31. 1fyoureadthisurgay

CoD Ghosts, I’ve always loved it

  32. Gun-nut0508

I don’t think anyone really shit on Cold War, I think the general consensus has always been “it’s a fun game”, it has its issues don’t get me wrong but I always enjoyed it.

  33. lettuce520

Personally I liked all of them because they all offered something new. Sure I like some more than others but I wouldn’t say any of them were “bad”.

The “bad” things for me are some individual maps but not an entire game.

Vanguard could objectively be seen as the “worst” zombies experience but Shi No Numa Reborn actually was fun and showed that the Vanguard gameplay and mechanics worked for round based zombies in my opinion.

  34. Paladin1034

Idk I just started playing it early this year and loved it. It’s hard to pick between outbreak or mwz though.

  35. JoshMeme4204

I had this ongoing joke (because of the dogshit launch it had on PS4) that “this game was not worth the 60 bucks”. I stuck with that joke until I put in like 40 days into the game.

Now, it’s worth the 60 bucks.

  36. Licensed_Ignorance

As always, I’m confused cause I enjoyed it since day 1.

    Is it perfect? No.

Does it manage to surpass BO3? No.

Is it still lots of fun regardless? Hell yes.

  37. SkwamIam

Loathed it then, loathed it now. Who out being consistent in their views.

  38. djereezy

Many Purist zombie fans don’t like. Most purist fans can appreciate the new open world.

  39. COD Ghosts and extinction fits this a little bit I cant lie

  40. swervicide

It also describes BO4 zombies lol. And even if you (whoever seeing this) doesn’t like it use the search tab in this sub and you’ll see like hundreds of “wait BO4 wasn’t that bad” posts in the last few months 😂😂

  41. Nicky_G_873

I thought that the consensus at launch was that it was great?

  42. AdventurousTime

If anything Cold War started out good and then vanguard came out and, well, you will have to pry Cold War out of my hands.
