It might be on par with the 13700k in multithread processing but for 50$ more you get 13900k single thread performance. You also get a way more optimized power efficiency and intel apo tech which is pretty underwhelming right now but very promising.
I look at the 14gen as a refinement of the 13gen

I’d take the 14700k because it will be better in production (blender and UE5). I’d double the ram too though or mix and match it with my current ram (assuming decent speed on the 32 that comes with this package). 50 bucks though is like a few coffees and a burger or two. It’s not even a blip on my radar. It would have been a few years ago when my wife was a stay at home mom and things were tighter but now… I’d take the 14700k if you do any hobby/production type stuff too.

Honestly, I would pay $50 more for the 14700K, because Intel has locked some software features to 14th gen, and the 14700k actually has more e-cores than the 13700k.
Though the smarter move might be to wait for Meteor Lake, if your current system works fine.

Man, I remember going to my Micro Center when the 12 series dropped and I paid $450 for the 12700K and just a Z690 pro-A but no RAM. These prices have dropped like crazy. Cannot wait to upgrade the 2080Ti to a 4070Ti or better. Then ill finally grab a DDR5 mobo and probably stick with the 12700K until I can get a 13900 or something similar. These GPU prices gotta drop though. That 4070Ti really needs to hit like, $700-750 and the 4080 needs to hit like $900-950 tops.
