The Specs of Laptops are in a very different scale, and even If you find a Laptop with a decent price and good Specs, If its a HP or Acer, you still got scammed
Esp. HP only picks the parts, and manufacture them together with the absolute worst Fans, CPU coolers, heatsinks and hard Drives
And then, If something breaks and your Laptop would need to be repaired, have fun with sending it directly to HP for 6+ weeks, and pay the triple amount for the repair

You know that Techpowerup only uses low TGP for mobile cards right? They dont take into account that high power version will not clock at ~1695mhz, but at 2100.
As all benchmarks show, it matches a stock 3090 in horsepower. If you want to complain about something, there’s the pathetic naming shift nvidia has made on laptops and several desktop cards.

Well it depends on the gpu and the laptop first off there are two variants of laptop gpus that are used in different laptops depending on their power usage and cooling for example if you are buying a legion laptop you will get a high TGP gpu hence great performance while something more slim or cheaper laptop you will get a lower TGP gpu hence worse performance
Also the more high end you go the bigger the performance gap between the desktop counterpart and mobile versions will be the sweet spot is always the xx60 and xx70 series as they have smaller performance differences than the desktop counterparts like the 3060 mobile vs 3060 desktop are very close
You always have to keep in mind laptop gpus will always be worse it’s just how much worse that you have to keep in mind and if you want the portability that much for me I love being able to grab my gaming laptop and play anywhere in the house next to an outlet or even some lighter stuff on battery for 2-3 hours or being able to put the laptop under any of the tvs in the house and get a console like experience and then when want a full on ideal desk setup I just grab it and plug it there that for me is worth the performance difference

It’s clearly labelled as a 4090m. There was a brief period where laptops could use full fat gpu’s with the 10 and 20 series, they were almost as good as the desktop equivalent but that was because they used much less power compared with the current chips. A 4090 is impossible to cool in a laptop so they run slower and have lower power limits to compensate.

Not really. Need a portable workstation to do heavy CAD work? You’re going to need a big laptop GPU. As for the chips themselves, they’re not a scam. They’re actually the same chip, but running them flat out is too much hot in a very small box so they have to be heavily underclocked. That’s just physics.

That’s insane, I’ve played my whole life on shitty laptops and I finally built a pc with a 3060ti and I was surprised when it’s just breezing through games on high+ settings and it’s not even straining the gpu no noise barely any heat. And the fact that I can finally use a keyboard that doesn’t get hotter than the sun because it’s right on top of the components. 👌🏽

You have to be a dummy to believe that RTX 4090 Mobile is RTX 3080 level performance. That shit at 175W is RTX 3090 – RTX 3090 Ti level.

So the RTX 4090 laptop’s system unit is $2000 (1-2TB SSD, $500 CPU, 32GB DDR5 RAM, Mid-Tier Motherboard, expensive cooler, etc.). You can build a RTX 4070 Ti PC build with that money. So unless you buy the $4000+ premium laptop models, a $3000 RTX 4090 laptop is pretty much a solid deal. And unless you can somehow turn your Mid-Full Tower PC into a portable system with built-in monitor, keyboard and battery, people will buy laptops. Like seriously, you can find a Legion Pro 7i for around $3000 (w/o tax) with the best specs you can put on a laptop.
To have a genuine price comparison between a laptop & desktop, you have to include the price of peripherals for the desktop PC as well since a laptop is a full system. And even then, laptop’s portability and ease of use is unbeatable.
