It ain’t stupid if it works. A lazy man’s approach to cable management. Curtain rod + cheap black curtain.

Between two monitors, a mouse, keyboard, microphone, Nintendo Switch, two passive bookshelf speakers, a tabletop amplifier, capture card, wireless phone charger, and a monitor light bar, I had a massive rats nest of cables going on behind my desk. Hollow desktop meant I couldn’t drill any cable management baskets into it.

Enter a cheap tension shower rod and black curtain I had laying around. Not only hides all the cables, but you just slide the curtain over to get easy access to it all. Might hem the curtain to make it a bit shorter, but honestly, it works pretty well.

    I’m not mad at it.

    Very clever.

I’m honestly just mad I didn’t think of it.

Everyone is going: D’oh! Why didn’t I think of that!

Best of all, if you need to cable something, you can just push the curtain away. Much better than the desks with a back that you can’t get past.

I seen someone do something similiar but they used a wall panel that matched the wall itself…pretty clever.
